Roots...everywhere! Not that I don't like a good technical ride. The outer loop is the easiest that I rode. Didn't try the inner loop, but the west loop was a lot of fun with a few obstacles and then the south loop was even more fun with even more obstacles. The Drop Zone was worth the visit, but just as many drops and gullies further down the South Loop. Just make sure you allow enough daylight! Next time I am riding this there hopefully won't be as much pine straw and leaves. All in all: great facilities and great workout.

Trail system is pretty flat and rooty. The drop zone is fun and reminded me of some trails in central VA. For a beg. This place is great. For a more advanced, check out new light trail system. Overall i would say this is a well marked trail system that will help the average rider develop bike confidence!

Had bad directions, but once we found it - Oh Boy!! We only got to do the South Loop, but that was ~8 miles of FUN FUN FUN!!! Nice Intermed. to some difficult parts - but those were mostly the CLIMBS!!! For every downhill run-out, expect to pay for it with a climb back up. But it was great

Rode this trail for the first time today. It is much more fun than expected. Plenty of quick downhill, the roots do take some getting used to. The roots are rough on the steep climbs, jabbing up 4-6" in some places. The "drop zone" didn't have the drop I was waiting for but it is worth riding, a few times. The deep gullies sneak up on you sometimes so watch out for those.

Over 2.5 hrs I rode all the loops. I’d vote to skip all the others in favor of the South Trail with an honorable mention to the Inner Loop Trail. There are lots of quick dips / gulleys along the way including some really steep ones dropping you 12-15 feet very quickly in the “Drop Zone.” The South Loop is seemingly endless, and includes many sections of speedy singletrack. All trails include a good deal of roots, not any really hard hills. Since this was my first ride in NC I noticed the pine needles slowdown your pace when you are around evergreens. Well marked, ample parking, and a big trail head map made of for a pleasant setup.

Great trail. I rode all the loops today. The South Loop is significantly more technical. The Drop Zone honours its name - two of the drops are pretty challenging but ridable.

It was worth the drive. I was at a conference and drove up and road two of the trails. West loop and inner loop. It was fast and pretty fun in some places. Very rooty in others. In one spot the trail was a little narrow.

Sweet ride. Smooth and tight and well kept. I rode so hard I ended up with a concussion. I learned you cant freak it through like most Raleigh trails. Good ride.

I had a lot of fun here. Not too much elevation or technical portions. Lots of fast, smooth singletrack.

If you do all the trails you can spend 2-4hrs out there depending on your ability. The Drop Zone (which was added aprrox 1yr ago) is a great new addition. Best to ride with someone who has ridden it before so you don't eat dirt, (unless you don't mind the taste) because you can easily miss a turn by being over zealous.

This trail is awesome. It is long enough for a good workout. It is got a obstacles, jumps, fast sections and technical section like the Drop Zone. This is my favorite trail around the Raleigh Area.

Similar Trail: New Light is in the same area and is even more technical

Great little trail - singletrack the whole way and exhausting! Bring a candybar! Great little gulley's, and when your done, just go to the lake for a swim! New Light is also 5 minutes from these trails, so it's a great area for an all-day riding event.

What a great trail. The outter and west loops are a good warm up for the south more advanced loop. Plenty of hills to get a good cardio workout. The "Drop Zone" loop in the south loop has some great drop ins to gullys wiith some tricky little climbs. Overall the trail has a pretty good flow. There are parts where roots will slow you down but nothing too bad.

To date - one of my favorites in North Carolina. Did all four loops. Fast and fun, good mix of obstacles - everything doable. Good mileage. All four loops totaled about 13 miles. Very well marked - easy to follow. Nice park with indoor plumbing:)

I agree with the earlier poster -- this is one of the best (public) trails in the Triangle. Although the $5 entry fee is a bit too steep to make this my weekly ride, the trail is worth a once-a-month or so ride. (Or carpool and split the fee.) The east/west loops are a great warm-up, but the south loop is where it's at. Great ridge-line runs, nice smooth downhill sections, sharp turns, some log-stunts and regular log-crossings, some rip-rap rock gardens, and some scary down-and-ups that shoot you faster than you want to go.

Similar Trail: New Light, Hog Run.

This is one of the better trails in the Triangle area but a bit rooty for my Colorado tastes. We rode a brand new section that was just opened up today, a small loop that was added onto the South Loop trail. The entry fee is up to $5 now, a bit too high to make this a regular ride.

Similar Trail: New Light.
