Fun best describes the trails. Fast and flowing, tight and twisty, many short ups and downs, lots of roots. Suitable for beginner or expert. Area not big enough to get seriously lost in.

Fun and flowy. You can really fly. I love the section by the river it is like riding on a curvy twisty carpet.

NO MARKING NO MARKING YOU COULD GET LOST VERY EASILY!!!!!!!!!!!! GET PLENTY OF WATER IN SUMMER GETS VERY HOT!!! BU IT IS VERY CHALLENGING, HILLS AND DOWN HILLS ARE AMAZING!!!!! VERY FUN .... BUT AGAIN NEEDS TO IMPROVE THE MARKING, THERE ARE MANY 3-WAY INTERSECTIONS.... NONE HAVE ANY KIND OF DIRECTIONS.... JUST BECAUSE OF THIS I DID NOT ENJOYED THAT MUCH OF IT, MAKES YOU STOP TO DECIDE WHERE TO GO.... I LOVE THE WAY TARHEEL TRAILBLAZER MARKED THE COL. FRANCIS BEATTY PARK, THEY HAVE DONE AND EXCELLENT JOB.... www.TarheelTrailBlazers.com

Similar Trail: 1. Col. Francis Beatty Park (7miles) 2. Anne Springs (9 miles or 16 miles if you get lost) 3. Poplar Tent (8 miles) 4. Sherman Branch (11 miles)

Great trail with a big variety of terrain for the area. Sugar Island has lots of fast switchbacks and off-camber strips. The other two trails are fun, rooty and just a blast to ride. It was worth the trip to Fort Mill to ride this.

Take Fort Mill exit 85 off I-77;go thru ft mill on hwy 160, which zig zags in downtown area (left on 160E then right on 160W); then right onto Townhill Rd; less than 3 miles ahead on left. Read EZ E s review for best description so far. I agree, and this is a great trail for this area!!

Another great trail local to Charlotte, NC - tons of fun! Pros: This trail has it all... great singletrack, many small bridge obstacles, 2 underground tunnels(about 15ft wide X 150ft long), 3-4 big suspension bridges(see picture above) over Steele creek, rolling straight-aways mixed with tech spots and a few rock gardens. Awesome ride along the banks of Steele Creek if you turn left(north) from end of "North Tunnel" trail. One sweet drop-in about 20 ft high @ very steep angle!! (see picture above) Cons: NEED MORE TRAIL MARKINGS! There are trailhead signs but no trail blazes on the trail to help keep you on track, could result in a few wrong turns for first-timers. The "north trail loop" along Business Hwy 21 is not being maintained, but is still ride-able. The "Creek Mouth" and "Sugar Island" trails are dead-ends. Some sections of the trail can have a few muddy sections a couple days after heavy rainfall. There is a $3 usage fee... some of this fee SHOULD be going to pay for correcting these "cons" above. Where is that money going?!? Because these are some important and pretty inexpensive fixes to improve the experience which in-turn should bring more riders and more dollars to the entire greenway complex. Recommended Route: Get a trail map at the pay station(back parking lot of Leroy Springs Recreation Complex)...From the Rec Complex, take "North Tunnel" trail - good downhill run. A bit after the tunnel, the trail dumps to a 3-way intersection - left will take you along Steele Creek north, right will hook up to "Complex Tunnel" trail and return to the parking lot. If you go left, ride along Steele Creek approximately 2 miles and is an out-and-back. On the way back, you'll hit the North Tunnel and Complex Tunnel trail intersection again...go straight to take "Complex Tunnel"/"School Trail" back to parking lot. Repeat until you throw up...enjoy!

Good trail with a little of everything, except long hills. Good place to push it hard. They closed it in 2003( access issues) ,but it is now open again. The trail has been somewhat rerouted to avoid erosion(more contour running).

Similar Trail: Catabwa, Renni
