Description
American Standard is a classic technical ride that is long and very rocky, not to mention absolutely beautiful. There are no big climbs but the entire ride combines to make you wish you were at Molly McGuires downing a beer. The setting is in state game lands in the pocono mountains with trees, rocks and mountain laurel. One of the best in eastern PA.

Review: I took a trip to ride the American standard last year. When I got there I was told not to ride it because of bear season, just make sure not to go during any hunting season; I was told that some of the local hunters have taken shots above bikers heads.

Review: This trail is very fun, but very technical and not for beginners. Do not let the description fool you, this trail will wear you out! There are rock gardens everywhere! Also, the name American Standard comes from the random toilet right in the middle of the trail!

Similar Trail: This trail reminds me of a longer and much more difficult run at Francis Slocum State park in Trucksville.

Review: The trail is closed to Mountain Bikes. Riding this trail will contribute to the increasing hatred of mountain bikers by land managers and other users. Mountain bikers must think about long term trail access and stop riding closed trails. I am an avid rider and it burns me up to see riders ruining our future by riding closed trails!

Review: Nice singletrack, some rock gardens, not too much climbing, and not too technical overall, but some sections are a little technical. For a GPS track map, see http://zerospin.org/gallery/cycling_maps/20050819_jt_americanstd?full=1

Review: We had hoped to hit this up on our trip (August 2005) but found out it is closed for revegetation due to ice storm damage. We did Broad Mtn. instead, was ok.

Review: The trail is not really steep in any one place. The rocks take it out of you though. There are many rock gardens which consist of mostly small rocks. Trail is windy, rocky and has a stream crossing (and a urinal).

Review: Lots of fast, windy, tight singletrack with stream crossings, rock gardens, log jumping, mud bogging. Make sure your endurance is up for it though. A really fun trail with changing layouts. A trail map is a must, available in the sports shops in town. A great ride!

Review: Amer. Standard is an awsome ride as far as technical/beauty go.It's long and the course can get a little rocky, but the workout you get is well worth the trip.

Review: Great riding in all of Jim Thorpe. American Standard is great single track but a little too rocky. Not too difficult but it will keep you on your toes.
