Mountain Biking Alamo Canyon Loop Trail

***   Add a review
#217 of 410 mountain bike trails in Arizona
#7,454 in the world

The trail is relatively easy to find if you bypass the ruins. It leads up a steep trail with steps and heads south to the Alamo Canyon Falls. Beautiful spot. From the falls, the trail becomes rockier and more technical. But this section is more beautiful than the other section. The trail follows Alamo Canyon drainage down to where it joins the road--between the ranger station and the Romero Ruins parking lot and picnic area. There is a large parking lot with a few picnic tables and this is where the trail comes out on the main Catalina Park road.

Getting there
This trail lies mostly within Catalina State Park near Oro Valley, AZ. Start at the Romero Ruins parking lot but take the trail to the right (west) of the ruins after crossing the wash. Head up the trail behind the ridge where the ruins are and keep on the obvious trail.
