Pros: Semi Pro level camera with all kinds of adjustments and lens options. Cheaper than the Pro models like 20D, etc.

Cons: Even though it's cheaper than the pro models, it's still a $700 camera riding around in your pack. Get a GOOD pack to protect it. The sports mode focus still seems to blur most action shots and the auto focus can be a bit wonky at times.

Recommendation: As far as DSLR cameras go, this is about as nice of a camera that I would ever risk taking with me on a trail ride. Just too much to lose if you wreck wrong. Especially if you carry nice glass. You can get great shots if you know how to use this camera. Just be carefull unless money is not an object.

Pros: Takes great pics and even HD video. Plenty of lens choices. Fairly rugged when stored in a hydration pack.

Cons: Colors seem a little washed out compared to my previous DSLR from Canon. Menus and settings are pretty overwhelming - I usually just stick to full auto.

Recommendation: This is an affordable camera for taking pro-level shots on the trail. I never ride a new trail without it!
