Description: Just above Nothweiler is the highest castle ruins in the Pfalz mountains. From it along a ridge are two other castles situated high on the rocky outcroppings, with a fourth further down in a valley inside of France. The trail network in this area is very extensive, with wide-open wanderwegs down to hardly used singletracks. The climbs are brutal, and the downhills are breakneck fast, but the views from the top are breathtaking. A lot of the trails will follow contour lines for those not willing to make a full pull to the top of the ridge, and a well maintained hard-ball road snakes through the valley.

The trails were mildly damp, and the weather in the 70\'s. The way up was twisty, and tough, but the views from the top were worth it. Coming downhill was whiteknuckled, as a lot of the trails have an insane grade to them along with roots and large rocks/boulders to pick around or barrel over.
