Description: This trail begins and ends within the Phil’s Trail network. By itself though it is a great downhill run that is quite often overlooked by riders with the Whoops & Ben’s being more popular routes. The Grand Slam is more technical than any others in this network and offers a greater challenge for the experienced rider.
At the upper end of this trail the forest is more dense and the trail tighter as it winds its way over rocks, through trees and along the edge of a small canyon for the first couple miles. After that the terrain flattens out quite a bit and there is an uneventful 2 miles through the woods. Just about the time you are wondering why you chose this trail it gets technical again in the form of rock gardens, drops, steeper grades, tight corners, etc. At intersection 15 stay right for Grand Slam or turn left to take VooDoo tr back up the mountain. The last mile or so the trail is squeezed between large trees and a rock wall creating some great technical riding, throw in a couple man made up & overs and you have a very fun ride. This trail ends at intersection 9, turn left and head half mile to intersection #7 at Phil’s Trail- another 2 miles back to the main parking lot or- lots of options here, take your pick.
