Description
Length: 5.00 miles

Total Elevation Gain: 500 feet

Overall Skill Level: Most Difficult

Trail Type Distances:

3.00 mi. 2-track

2.00 mi. single track

This trail is short, but sweet, technical ridge line route. To access this segment,

follow the directions for Trail 1 for the first two miles. Just as the canyon begins to

narrow, a short and steep 2-track cuts to the north (right) and toward a saddle.

At the saddle look for a single track that heads to the east (right) through a red

rock outcrop. This part of the trail winds through rocks and ledges with panoramic

views of the Shoshone Range and the Humboldt River Valley. After climbing up a

rocky slope, Trail 14 and 15 split at the top and rejoin at the northeast end of the

ridge. Trails 14 and 15 can be ridden as the Playground loop and are best ridden

in a clockwise direction. Trail 15 is more technical and hugs cliffs and the ridgeline

above the Reese and Humboldt River Valleys. Trail 14 winds through sagebrush

and over rock on the hilltop. To return to the Trailhead from the playground,

follow fast and technical 2-track where Trails 14 & 15 rejoin. The 2-track winds

down a steep eastern slope, eventually meeting up with a power line access road

that heads back to the Trailhead.
