Description
Niner's all new Air 9 exemplifies high performance at O2 weights with the custom butted and drawn Easton Scandium GX2 geared only frame.

While the Air 9 is based on Niner's award winning One 9, we didn't just simply put a derailleur hanger and a standard bottom bracket into the One 9. We redesigned the frame from the ground up with an all new proprietary Easton GX2 tubeset. Everything from the drop outs to the head tube was re-examined for maximum weight savings while still maintaining the strength and ride quality that is paramount to all Niner frames.

Pros: Light. Flickable. Corret Rake = Good Steering. Paint.

Cons: Can't really say…?

Pros: Good component mix. Fairly lightweight frame.

Cons: Geometry feels a little compressed to me, leaving me sitting more upright on the bike. The bike I rode may not have been the right size but the chainstays were noticeably shorter than on my d660 (which is good or bad, depending on what you're looking for).

Recommendation: Solid bike, though I imagined a much more exciting experience after all the hype I had heard and read about Niners.

Model/Year: 2011 frame

Pros: Fast frame with a really compliant ride. Perfect flex and geometry.

Cons: Low color combinations and choices available.

Recommendation: So light it's unfair and crazy easy on your bones, there's nothing I'd rather race for the money.

Pros: Super light frame. Scandium is quite cushy for its weight. Rear triangle is especially vertically compliant. No observed torsional movement anywhere on the frame. Did I mention that it is light? I've got the Air9 frame in raw aluminum and, boy, it is sexy.

Cons: Pretty expensive frame given that it's a hard tail. Retails for around $800, I think.

Recommendation: This bike is light as hell and rides like a cloud. If you're shooting for a geared hard tail for XC racing, the Air 9 should be on your short list.

Pros: It's like conventional MB with big wheels. Handles great, climbs awesome. It has Kenda small block 8s and it is a fast bike.

Cons: Nothing as of yet

Recommendation: Love it! Got it at Johnny Sprockets in Chicago.
