Q: how is this trail first week of june? Planning a trip want to be prepared :) Ema -emaqponies

A: They have hard open date of July 1st to go all the way to the top. The forest service doesn't open the last gate until then. You can usually get to the top of Hazard though.

Q: is this doable in mid-April? -Rabbit88

A: Not a chance. Check with a local shop to get current info, but the LaSals will still be under plenty of snow. Porcupine Rim will definitely be a go and probably LPS. If you're lucky, you may get to to UPS as well, but anything above that almost certainly not be ready.

Q: Is this trail good to go in Mid June? A couple years ago I rode it 2nd week of June and Burros Pass was still snowed in. What -Frank Etier

A: Mid-June should be perfect for this trail as long as the snow is melted on the top. You just want to monitor the temps and make sure the days aren't getting too hot. You'll want to be starting the trail super early in the morning, it may be a bit chilly then as well.

Q: Would it be too hot to do this trip mid-August? -1kayaker

A: I did it in mid-July and survived, but it was close to 100 degrees when I reached the river. Travel cautiously, wear sunscreen, and pack a lot of water.
