You know I really hate web designers that insist on making a website phone centric such that on my big monitor your website becomes a tiny band formatted for phone. I bought a...
For practical value, good communication and a short delivery time - Davis Carver. www.carverbikes.com Reliable folks to deal with. No relation just a very satisfied customer.
Cost/Benefit ratio not attractive any more. Users did not like going through IMBA to support Camba. Direct donations to Camba that went through IMBA, IMBA takes a significant cut. Full info at...
@Nick Hepler To answer your question: One issue is a difference of philosophy between IMBA and the new spin-off the Sustainable Trails Coalition about bicycles in wilderness. New wilderness withdrawls have eliminated historic...
NO, local club is pulling out of IMBA. I also donated to the Sustainable Trails Coalition.

Jeff, When I go out for group rides all I see is Trek and Specialized. How do other bike companies penetrate that force field when all the local shops are T &...
A compromise option is buying online from a real LBS that has a web presence. These shops supplement their income with a webstore. Most can not compete totally with the hard core no support online vendors but they come much closer and you still are supporting a brick and mortar bike shop. Places like Bikeman.com…
I think the problem is you are trying to make a tool do something it is not capable of doing. You are playing within the error bars of the device. The GPS data, hence the accuracy, is the same for all devices. The differences lie in the antennas, receiver resistance to noise and how many…
The problem is that the accuracy of determining where you are on the planet is something that GPS does well. But measuring the delta of short distances like a thousand readings around a short 1 mile track can have a lot of compounded error. That does not mean it is not useful. Most of the…
Your tests really don't have much value. GPS is only accurate at best to a few meters and at worst to 30 meters. So trying to measure a distance of 1609 meters, to less than 1% error, with a tool that at worst can be off greater than 1.5% or 30 meters for each measurement…

I agree with Nick. My first concern is that there is a reasonable campground close to town. I like down-to-earth places like Moab was in the 90's. I don't like high-zoot Ski...

replied to How wide do you ride handle bars?

I ride singletrack exclusively and wide bars are a liability in tight trails. I see no benefit to using them. Seems like a fad to me.

Coming back into MTBing from a long pause it would be really useful for you to write an article with definitions of most of the riding categories used today. As you note the use of words can be morphed such that descriptions can not be guessed by the common use of the word. So what…
