About Me

I travel with my wife, Diane, our three rescue dogs (plus a fussy cat) around the country in a creaky RV, searching for singletrack nirvana. We love to ride and meet folks everywhere and are the producers of Trail TV, which can be seen here on Singletracks.

Good thought. Had I done that versus on the rocks, we might not have spent a quarter of a century waiting for her to get back on the bike.
Hi Mongwolf, fingers crossed that you'll get your wife out there. I think you're right, each individual responds differently to mountain biking. That's why I think it's a good idea to let them have a little bit of fun before you add in some different or harder work.
Hey Triton, Diane definitely benefited from a course and the bigger tires. I think both provide a mental edge in addition to the physical implications. Thanks for weighing in.

I have one of these and concur, works great. Even very hard landings that caused my chest mount to bounce like crazy didn't cause the footage to get dizzying. It was perfect for adding in POV footage for episodes of Trail TV. Sadly, mine took to spinning wildly after four or five uses. Feiyu Tech…

Ha, it's as if you channeled my experiences exactly in this. I am notoriously incapable of reading maps (though Diane, my wife) disagrees wholeheartedly. So many times I'm riding and end up putting in many extra miles because of it. Just last week I took a wrong turn while riding the Pinhoti and what was…

A great place...rolling, rocky, rowdy. Climbs, fast descents, great views. A little something for everyone. And even though they claim...

Good read, Jeff. I personally don't have issues with cramps (mostly). Sometimes on very long, hot events, like the Berryman Trail Epic or Syllamo's Revenge, I'll start getting the nagging sensation of cramps but never really the full on deal except maybe once or twice. I dismiss most of the things people do (pickle juice…

Damn, Jenny, how'd I miss this over the years? I guess I gotta go back to the Southwest again! Great article.
