I had given Fountainhead a bad review in the past, primarily because of the trails frequently being closed with no...

I've long shared the belief of staying off wet trails. However since moving to West Virginia 3 summers ago, the trails here NEVER dry out. Amazingly they stay muddy year round. When I moved here I thought I'd be getting some wicked back country riding in. Sadly I've basically had to retire my mountain bike…
@Jeff Barber- Doesn't the strap around your waist dig into your stomach? Especially when it's hot out? I'm skinny but the thought of a strap digging into my stomach vs my shoulders seems less than appealing. I'd have to assume there is a fine line between it being too tight and being uncomfortable vs too…
I'd bet a pretty penny that if hip packs had dominated the scene over the past dozen years or so and then backpack hydration packs started popping up, riders would be flocking to the backpacks. Hip packs come across as nothing but trendy to me. They can't hold as much and they bounce around much…
Horrible news. Life is so fickle, I hope Jared makes a speedy recovery and gets his life back to where it was.

Jeff I think there is some truth to the new rider aspect.  Most riders don't carry the tool they need until that one time they break down and they need it, after...

@ Sean Gordon-  Yeah I was nervous at first dropping down low on the bars, so I had them rotated up.  I've since rolled them down to a neutral position.   I've since joined...

I had a 2015 FSR Stumpjumper Epic and had nothing but problems with it. Even when it was running right, like you said, the suspension was rough and far from plush. The constant component and frame failures were enough to turn me off from the brand all together. It looks like they've tried to fix…
I've read this article a couple of times over the years, always a good read. I moved to WV in 2016 and Big Bear has become one of my favorites for sure. Never ridden at any place quite like it. It's a must ride if you're ever passing through NE West Virginia.
Nice review Matt, glad you're writing for Singletracks. Keep em coming
I was in the market for a drop-bar adventure/gravel bike to keep my mtb fitness levels up. I took a long look at the Diamonback Haanjo but went with the Raleigh Tamland 2 instead. Regardless, getting a gravel bike was one of the best purchases I have ever made. When my singletrack trails are wet…
