WTB has just announced the release of a new plus tire: the Ranger. It will be available in both 27.5+ and 29+ — the first 29+ tire from WTB. Also notable for the Ranger is the inclusion of a TCS Tough casing “for extra durability and stability,” according to WTB.

The Ranger appears to offer a well-rounded profile with predictable, low profile knobs. Here’s how WTB explains the tread:

Searching for the ultimate do-all tire to satisfy your plus-size needs? Meet the Ranger…you’re welcome. Exposed outer lugs devour corners and shed muck with ease while the tight, supportive centerline tread pattern delivers a fast yet supple plus-size tire that excels in all conditions. Completing the package, multi-directional siping assures the Ranger will grab hold whether tackling technical climbs or roosting into corners. Weight optimized to outperform in all conditions, wet or dry, hardpack or loam. Limitless traction, increased confidence and multiple usages make the plus-size Ranger ready for any challenge. Trail ready, bikepacking approved….the Ranger isn’t intimidated.

The new tire is available in both 2.8″ and 3″ widths, and in a variety of compounds and casings, for a total of seven different options (six for 27.5+, and only one option for 29+). The lightest 27.5+ option weighs in at 803g, and the 29+ version weighs in at 902g.

Some models are already available for sale, but not all.
