Douchebags, or Db Equipment if you like, is a Scandinavian company trying to make traveling suck less. Pro skier Jon Olsson and engineer Truls Brataas founded the company after a chance meeting in 2009. Both Jon and Truls spent a lot of their time traveling to ski or surf and thought there had to be a better solution for hauling their gear. And so, Douchebags was born.

Db now makes a wide range of products including bags for skis, snowboards, backpacks, and duffles. Their aesthetic is clean and simple–no surprise considering where the company began.

Of most interest to us, however, is their new bike bag. The project was born through a partnership with Team Sky, a professional road team. Db worked with team mechanics to create a bag that simplified packing and unpacking numerous bikes. They also talked to baggage handlers at airports to find out what worked and what didn’t when it comes to loading luggage. The collaboration resulted in “The Tour” bike bag. The Tour can hold a mountain bike, but it was really designed for road bikes. Because of this, Db came up with The Trail, a bike bag specifically for mountain bikes of all types.

Minimal disassembly is required to pack a bike inside The Trail. Packing a bike should take just a few minutes. Inside the heavily padded case is a foam block for your bottom bracket to rest on, straps to hold your bars, protective sleeves for your fork legs, and a pocket to stash your pedals or tools. Each wheel gets its own zippered pocket. The outside of the bag features numerous, well-placed handles to aid in transport. Hans Gunleiksrud, Db’s North American General Manager, was especially proud of the bag’s wheels, which are substantially larger than what you’ll find on the competition. When not in use, The Trail collapses down into a tidy package for easy storage.

The Trail is available in one of two colors – black or blue – and retails for $699.
