10 Mountain Bikes We Want to See Under the Tree this Christmas

Intense Carbine 29c

With so many great bikes on the market now, choosing the one bike I want the most is a tough call. If pressed to pick just one, I’d have to go with the bike that surprised me the most: the Intense Carbine 29C that I rode at Interbike. You might expect a 29er with 160mm of travel up front and 140mm out back to feel slow and cumbersome, but you’d be wrong. In fact, I had to double check my notes when I wrote my review to be sure that this bike did indeed have that amount of travel. Key stats include a 67-degree head tube, 72-degree seat tube angle, and 451mm/17.75” chainstays. The Pro build uses the gold-standard RockShox Pike RCT3 fork along with a Monarch Plus high-volume shock and SRAM X1 drivetrain. A 5″-travel 29er that’s light, fast, smooth, quiet, and can plow through chunky trails? Yes, please.

MSRP: $6,700
