Big Mountain Enduro just released their preview video for the 2014 season, and man is it rad! In case you missed it, Singletracks has signed on as a media sponsor for the series as well as the official BME mapping sponsor, and as a part of this collaboration I’ll be riding the entire series this summer and reporting about it right here on Singletracks.

While I’ve been getting stoked for a jam-packed summer schedule and some fantastic mountain biking, actually getting to see video from all of these venues and getting a small glimpse of the trails I’ll be racing on has me extremely excited! Personally, I’m most excited about the fact that these trails we’ll be racing are world-class slices of singletrack in epic mountain bike locations. Unlike some races I’ve done in the past, I would travel to each of these destinations to ride even without a race to draw me there… and for some of these locales, I already have!

Check out the video below, and if this gets you stoked too, be sure to snag one of the remaining race spots!

I know right! Time and money. Looking to hit Trestle up this summer a good bit and tune those DH skills.

Haha yeah, I hear ya. I definitely want to hit Trestle as well! We’ll see…

My issues with the BME Series is the registration costs. Man are they expensive! I am not blind to the fact that they are putting on a world class event that is essentially one step below the EWS, however for a sport that bills itself as the “everyman mountain biking event” they don’t charge everyman prices.

I do 12 hour races every year and the registrtion tends to be around $80 which I find reasonable. However most of the BME events are double that, if not more. While I enjoy mixing it up from time to time (I am signed up for another 12 hour race and a few enduro races this year), I just can’t justify the price they charge for what essentially is just something I do for fun. I can take a lot of low budget mountain biking trips for the cost of racing the BME series.
