The 32nd Chequamegon (pronounced She-wa-me-gon, which means “she took my wagon”) Fat Tire Festival, presented by Trek, will be held in northwestern Wisconsin Sept. 12-14. Since 1983, riders have raced point to point from Hayward, WI to Cable, WI. The main events, the Chequamegon 40 and the Short & Fat, start Saturday at 10 a.m. The longer 40 mile race starts in Hayward, with the Short & Fat grand depart in Cable. Both end at the Telemark Resort.
A total of 3,100 riders will participate in the event, including a sold out field of 2,100 riders in the Chequamegon 40. Another 1,000 riders will start at the same time in downtown Cable and race 16 miles in the Short & Fat, which also finishes at Telemark. Sounds like one hell of a good time to me! Take a look at the full festival schedule here, and if you’re planning to race, or even just stop by, shoot us a note with how it went! We’d love to hear.
