Join Us in Taking the 30 Days of Biking Challenge!

The 30 Days of Biking challenge is beginning its 5th year, and it’s a pretty simple concept: bike every day, without fail, for all 30 days of April. There’s no time or distance requirement, and not even a requirement to ride a certain type of bike. Whether it’s just riding around the block, to the grocery store, an adventurous singletrack mountain bike ride, or a road bike century, it all counts as riding!

But when it actually comes to completing the challenge, on the other hand, it’s not really as easy as it sounds. I first accepted the challenge in 2010, the first year it was held, and man, was it a challenge! Some days I didn’t get to bike until 11 at night, and other rides I endured despite rain, cold temperatures, damaged bikes, saddle sores, general soreness and other difficulties.

It was tough, but I completed the challenge, and the feeling of accomplishment was so gratifying! Ever since the 2010 challenge, I’ve wanted to see if I could step up my game while riding for another 30 days in a row. Unfortunately, I haven’t taken on the challenge again… until now!

This year, I, along with Jeff, maddslacker, skibum, mtbikerchick, and dgaddis will be tackling the #30daysofbiking challenge. I’ll be live blogging along the way, sharing my adventures and my trials with all of you, and the other blog team members will chime in from time to time as well.

Join Us!

But this isn’t just about me… I want you all to join me! We’ve set up a forum thread here so that we can all communicate about the difficulties and challenges that we’ll face, and our successes as we overcome them!

In addition to working together and sharing our #30daysofbiking adventures here on Singletracks, we’re also planning to organize a couple of Singletracks #30daysofbiking meet-ups in early April. Stay tuned for more details!

So you don’t back out once you’ve committed, 30DaysofBiking.com has opened up registration for the event, where you sign your name and pledge to complete the challenge set before you. Go ahead, sign up, and then post to the forum thread to let us know that you’re in!

I can’t wait for April to get here!
