Well I’ve been spoiled. My shop was only 10 miles from the house and 3 from the trails. I love the bike but it’s been in the shop over 20 times in the last 6 months. I’ve had my hardtail there once in that time.

Well when i bought the bike it came with free lifetime tune ups. I’ve had to have both the shocks worked on the bearings replaced and one whell replaced. It’s still under warranty but I won’t have anybody I can take it to do have it worked on. The next closest bike shop is about 25-30 miles away.

Actually Ive been pretty lucky I have only had two flats for a while and they were thorns. I think that the only pinch flat that I have had was on my police bike off of a curb.

Yeah I have ridden a few times in the snow lately. I have been doing a lot of riding on frozen ground too. Thats the first time I have ever heard of this. The snow has been pretty soft for the most part though.

I just purchased the alligators and love them. The ti coating looks cool but it dosent seem to brake as well. I’m running mine on avid juicy 3. The are a little loud but the breaking is great and they do a great job with cleaningud and snow.

thats a little high for psi you should try to lower the psi in your tires a little bit i have a buddy thats about the same height and weight you mentioned and he runs 35psi in the front and 38psi in the rear with no problems.[/quote:2rce1ij6]

I’m a pretty big guy so too low psi and it’s major damage. They are the 2.1s.

That stinks. I figured as much I was just wondering if I might be jumping the gun on changing them out.

I lower the PSI and I get massive pinch flats and tear up the sidewalls.

Well I have the I.S. mount with 160mm rotors and the pads are in well. I guess that I could try to flip the mount. I m running this on a GT avalanche 1.0 with a Rockshox Recon Race Air fork.

Well just to ease your mind Im a range officer, tactics training officer, and a hunter education instructor. This isnt soemthing that you would do on a whim. Its only a emergency situation. I understand you hesitance but again an emergency situation only.

Well first of all Im a Police officer and I never said fire into the air. Firing into the air is just stupid and will not produce any more decibels then firing into the ground. An no in my situation it is more danger to my life to carry blanks. If you cant find a safe place to fire the rounds into ie, tree, ground etc then you dont ahve any business carrying a live weapon. BTW blanks do not produce nearly as many decibels as a live round.

I used to carry a Glock 27 .40 but it was too heavy. I now carry a cheap ol Taurus Ultralight .38 revolver. We ride in some places that there are black bears but Im more worried about the pot farmers….lol Its also useful if you get hurt since there is no cell signal and a shot or two is bound to attract attention.

I have had good luck with them. They wont always stop a leak but they will slow it down to a very small one. It keeps you on the trail. I havent had a failure with mine yet. They are however a little heavier.
