    You can compare prices HERE.
I do find that pinkbike pricing is a little on the high side!

You will need to find out the steering tube diameter, it will either be 1" or 1 1/8". You can remove the stem cap and measure the diameter from there or completely remove the stem and measure that way. I’m suspecting you have a 1 1/8" tube which is most common now a days. From there you need to decide how much you want to spend and if you want new or used.
You have to be careful buying used because if the forks are shot as in worn seals or bushing it could end up costing you more to get them serviced then what you payed for them, unless you are handy and can do some service yourself.
The other thing you have to consider when buying used is the steering tube length and how much has been removed to fit the bike the forks came from. You can measure from the top of the crown on your existing fork to the top of the stem cap to get a minimum measurement to start your search.
As for fork travel, I would recommend 100mm or maybe even 120mm anything less then this is useless as a upgrade IMO.
I hope you find what your looking for and if I see anything that might be of interest to you I will post it here. Let me know how the hunt goes.

I’ve only been a member here for a short time and already this site has given me so much, time to give a little back. Come on members of singletrack lets all give a little back. A donation to this cause is a small price to pay for the info found on this site, whether it be trail info, reviews or the wealth of info found on the forums.

    If that happened to me…….

Lets just say my chamois would be used for something other then comfort! 😳

I’m still getting my brain around the thought of ‘thousands of broken frames’

I was thinking the same thing. How many carbon frames are being destroyed each year?
I’m happy to hear that what ever the number is, some of them will not be lie at the bottom of some landfill for thousands of years!

Yeah, a lot of that stuff is so wide and smooth it looks machine cut. Then again, I never discount the motivation people have to shred – they’ll do just about anything to bomb incredible trails!

What also amazes me is the time people have, but at their age they have all the time in the world!

Sweet little video and I would love just to have a chance to walk down a trail like that, because no way I’m riding down that and getting to the bottom without some kind of injury.

in reply to: Preload on my Front Shock? #103137

Setting the preload commonly called SAG is based on riding style and rider weight. Below is a link to a Foxshox video for setting sag on fox shocks but its done the same for all shocks.

    Setting Fork Sag

Here is a User Manual for Dart Shox.

If you are looking for more technical info about your Shox here is the Service Manual

If the above links are not enough for ya Rockshox Service Resources

I hope I didn’t throw to much at ya,basically the video explains it best. Looks like Rockshox recommends 25% sag so in your case with 100mm shock 25mm sag is ideal.

in reply to: Should I go when I know it’s foolish #103090

I have a hard time letting stuff like this go. I still have my first mtb I purchased for $600 24 years ago hanging up in my garage, it has not seen the ground in about 5 years. I am happy to say that other then a little rust last time I took it for a spin it still worked perfect. I bought the bike when I was 16 with my own money, lets just say I delivered a lot of newspapers to save up for it. But I’m starting to think the time has come to part with her.

in reply to: Cold weather gear #103100

I just wear cheap tights with my cycling shorts or cycling liner underneath. If weather is on the wet and muddy side I wear tights underneath some splash pants with velcro strapped around my leg to keep my pants out of the chainring.

1 for the good guys (gal)
    0 for the bad guys.

I would have loved to hear what the thief was thinking when she just rode off with the bike.

"damn someone just stole my stolen bike!"

in reply to: Pet Peeves of the Trail #101292

Biggest pet peeves in no real order,

    Dog crap on the trail.
Dog walkers that don’t move off the trail.
Dog walkers that pick the crap up in those little bags, then toss the bags or leave them hanging from branches a long the trail.

I have a few pic but I’m sure everyone gets the point!

BTW I love dogs and have a couple myself, it’s the irresponsible owners that PMO!
