Hey, try asking in the regional forum for Florida and the South-east

Hope you get out on the trails soon!

Thanks for the responses, after trying a few things I think a combination of Hammer Heed, Vega Sport bars, plain old water and cashew nuts seem to keep me going pretty well.

Too much of things like gatorade/powerade didn’t settle in my stomach well.

Might try a few more things but happy to have found stuff that works well for me

    Here’s how I see it:

XC: Long distance, endurance based race format. Typically hardtail or short travel full suspension rigs.

Trail: Our equivalent of “soul surfing”. Short travel to mid travel full suspension or burly hardtail rig.

I mostly agree JT, but it depends on where in the world you ride as well. Here in Ontario I take XC to mean more managed trails with a bit of hard pack, flowy, tree slalom, with a few rocks and roots for extra excitement as you blast out another lap against the clock.

To me, Trail means riding a little further, more of a journey than a repeated loop for speed with probably a little more rough and ragged tech challenge to it.

When I rode in NZ, Trail riding blurred with what we now call All Mountain and what my mates and I referred to as "Adventure" rides eg. "That extinct volcano looks like it would be fun…"

    Hey Nick, welcome to Singletracks!

I live in TO but I spend a fair bit of time riding west of the GTA at Hydrocut, Kelso and Hilton. Rockcliffe and Fanshawe are on my ride list over the next couple of weeks too.

I sometimes ride with the guys from Defiant MTB [url:1d7x6f5h]https://www.facebook.com/groups/DefiantMTB/[/url:1d7x6f5h]. Very friendly and casual group with a mixture recreational and more advanced riders. There’s normally at least one group ride a week somewhere out towards you.

    See you on the trails!

I would of called the guy out on it also

Someone else I spoke to asked why I didn’t chase him to the next intersection and ask him, the thought did cross my mind but as I didn’t actually see him take the bike from anywhere, just ride down the street with it, I hesitated.

I guess I could have gone down the "Nice ride, which trails do you hit?" casual questioning route, but hindsight is a wonderful thing

in reply to: What’s your favorite MTB beer? #122714

I like my beer hoppy and flavourful -So Boneshaker IPA is a personal favourite, and it has a skeleton riding a bike on the bottle so I think it just about qualifies for this list

I’ve never come across anything like a plank with nails in it, but on a couple of occasions on trails in and around Toronto I’ve stopped to foot-sweep glass that looks suspiciously/freshly dropped. Sure, you get garbage on trails (especially the more urban ones) but it always makes me wonder what kind of person would leave something like that where family’s walk their dogs and people ride their bikes, even if it wasn’t dropped with malicious intent.
