Update:
We’ve tracked down a bug in the system that was being a little over-generous with some badges. We think we’ve corrected the issue, and Jeff has put some checks and balances in place in the software.
Unfortunately, this means that I personally (and no one else for that matter) have [i:3na21hz4]not[/i:3na21hz4] earned the Rambler badge or the IMBA Epic badge. Must… ride… more… trails 😼
Cool, I thought some badges were being handed out pretty fast. Even some of mine. There is still an issue with checking in to a trail that has no connectiviy because it being remote, at least with the Iphone. I’ve been out to a trail twice and checked in offline and still nothing.[/quote:3na21hz4]
There is a function built into the app for that. You should be able to check in offline, log your check in, and then when you get back to cell service or wifi and hit "check in" there is a section at the top that says "pending check ins" that you can click on and finish your check in.[/quote:3na21hz4]
Roger that. Again, they are working that issue with the Iphone. It doesn’t give you that option yet.

Yeah or if you go to a trail that is off the grid. There are several of those around me.
Just finished a trip up to Columbia, MO and picked up a couple more badges. I like the fact the trails are right next to each other or within a few minutes of each other. Anyway, I picked up the sample platter and road trip badges.
I’m coming from Saint Robert. I plan on coming up to STL eventually to ride. I’m heading up to Columbia for a concert and using that excuse to bring my bikes. Thanks for the reply.
Congrats on the location! I used to live there and I miss the riding out that way! As a beginner, the best way to get better is to ride with others often. I noticed someone sent you a link to a group. Take them up on it. I didn’t ride with others for the longest time and my skills took a while to progress. Once I started riding with other guys, my skills and abilities skyrocketed. Now I can crash with the best of them!

Gotta stop pausing the recording. 47 actual miles around the lake. Very flat, but very fun. Shorter version of what’s on tap for this coming weekend – about 65 miles in the same area.
Me, in Mistletoe State Park. When there’s no water flowing across the dam in the background you can ride it, but when it’s wet it’s slicker than ice.
I just gave up worrying about my "time" also. I would lose a lot of mileage by hitting stop.
I have just enough equipment to keep my entire body engaged along with my trainer for the bike and a treadclimber for cardio.
The problem with working out at home for me is there are too many distractions to prevent me from getting a good workout. I am retired military and live near a military installation so I have access to a few gyms for free and when I go there I know I am going to have a good workout. Plus some of the scenery is nice.
I do still workout at home but it don’t get the results I do when I go else where.
PS. The treadclimber makes a good clothes hanger.
Noone talks about ride club
Don’t get too fixated on heart rate training unless you have a good max to work off of. If I go by what the experts say my max heart rate is, I wouldn’t get anything out of my training. When I ride my mountain bike, I spend most of my time in the 90th percentile and quite often go over 100%. Still alive and kicking. You seem to be on a good line to get where you want training wise though. Good luck!
I do most of my training on my road bike due to lack of trails close by and ride my mountain bike for for fun when ever I can get on it. I prefer my mountain bike. Anyway, I usually ride 6 days a week. Not all are killer days. Example of a week on my road bike mileage will vary but I try to stay close to the mileage:
Mon: Easy Pace 15-16 mph (Recovery) 12 miles
Tue: Moderate Pace 17-18 mph with intervals 18 miles
Wed: Brisk Pace 18 and up mph 20 miles
Thur: Off
Fri: Moderate Pace 18 miles
Sat: Mod Pace 60 miles
Sun: Mod Pace 25 milesAgain mileage will vary along with effort depending on how I feel. If I feel like I have wooden legs, I might take an extra day off.
First spill and it’s June? I must really suck. I usually take a spill every couple of rides, nothing bad though. I did take a nasty one back in April and I’m still recovering from that. Doc says…..Try not to use your right hand excessivley. I tell him…..okay, all the while thinking…I’m still going to ride and it’s going to be used excessivley. Doc did say it was going to take longer to heal if I did, guess he was right. The good thing about that spill, bike was OK!!
Ha….appearance? It does along with performance. I got the performance going with my Yeti and the "color" scheme is getting there. This winter I am going to take it apart and get it repainted. I’ll be on my hardtail until it’s done and put back together. Figure since it’ll be apart, pushing both the fork and shock are going to get done also. Color scheme…….Red and Black.
