ive been running on the eliptical and riding the exercise bike of course. ive seen great results from insanity about how much are the dvds and how long are the workouts

thanks ive started eating fruits with my lunches and only eating one sandwich and im also trying to snack on fruits or veggies instead of chips.. theres a biggest loser weight loss challenge starting friday at work and lasts 12 weeks this should give me some motivation not to mention who ever loses the most weight gets the money from the pot at 10 dollars per person

the only time i ever came across some real pricks was at my first mountain bike race. i went down and moved quickly to get me and my bike out of their way and then the third guy in line ran up and stepped on my bike and his leg hit my helmet as i grabbed for the bike. he couldnt wait one second i said damn dude i was tryin to get it out of the way and you step all over me he said sorry but idk if he truly was or maybe it was because we were in a race..i went down one more time this guy was much faster than me he stopped asked if i was alright then said stay on my back wheel although this was an older gentlemen and that can be the difference between someone that loves the sport and a young ego headed punk similar to the ones you see when playing on a sports team

Your issue sounds like the front hub needs to be tightened.[/quote:1jioam4a]

ya its been tightened once before

[quote="jtorlando25":25lyidfr]My biggest life goal (related to mountain biking): I’m going to weigh 200 lbs or less in 2013. I’m at 235 now after losing 82 lbs already.

    My mtb goals:
    1. Ride as much DH as possible and maybe enter a race or 2. Which also accomplishes another goal of mine which is to travel more.
    2. Step up my endurance. 10+ mile xc rides for me are a rarity, I want it to be a regular occurrence.
    3. Perform more trail work. I recently discovered that I <3 chainsaws 😎
    4. Ride Whistler and/or Mt. St. Helens.
    5. Push myself…hard. Going to utilize Strava to keep track of my rides and to see some results.
    6. Try not to get hurt. My shoulder still hurts from separating it in October 😢

I have a smiliar list drop 45 pounds to 200 my high school weight and enter another mountain bike race maybe 2

    Awesome list![/quote:25lyidfr]

i dont understand why they cant come with a guard stock…i had no idea this was something that could happen or something i needed

in reply to: Break-in Period for new MTB & Brake Vibration #114763

that may be what the damage is on my frame..my chain has come off a few times and i thought it was that…so chain slap can damage the frame…mine has

    "maddslacker" wrote

For chain slap, wrap an old tube around the chainstay and secure it with either gorilla tape or zip ties.

thanks for all the replies!!! what’s the best way to clean them and how often do you clean them?

in reply to: camelback or water bottles? #114299

im starting to think a pack is the way to go especially for more storage as food or tools or both and the bottles run kinda low..ive gotten use to hurrying and spraying the water in but you have to be quick after all this is mountain biking not riding on the road..so i think the pack would be better…its a 2 liter pack for 23 bucks..how big are the packs you use?

sounds epic man…i haven’t came across anything like that yet but sounds awesome

in reply to: Having a problem staying on the bike…. #114234

also check the pre load on your front shock if its really bouncy over rocks and obstacles it can throw you off…you want it to absorb the rough stuff…i had to adjust mine a little and i also found i was grabbing the front brake going down large rocks and bucked me over the front…so now i know not too use the front brake in some cases. i’m 6’2” 240 pounds and just started riding in march

i have the disconnect tight just not sure whats goin on as for the stem i put my ear to it and it sounds like its coming from the bars on the right side by the brake hard to tell where it is cause the sound could be comin up through the bars..i need to get it to the shop anyways to take care of a broken spoke and a few minor adjustments now i have this stuff happen just wondering whats goin on all of a sudden

You’ll laugh, but I saw that video "If Only All MTB Videos Were This Good", bought a bike that week and have ridden nearly everyday since. About 6 months ago, and with the help of Singletrack I have ridden more great trails already then I even knew exsisted. First trail I found through this site was Buffalo Creek- wow what a start!

i know the video its pretty sweet

in reply to: Full Suspension easier to ride??? #113819

ya i figured a full suspension would be spongy climbing and back from my atv days i just simply stand up over rough stuff and it wont buck you around so much and i love taking corners as fast as possible people ask me how do you go so fast in corners the key is to lean your bike not your body

in reply to: Full Suspension easier to ride??? #113815

ya i have regular flat pedals that come on pretty much every bike except for expensive ones..ive heard with the clip in pedals from a friend of mine who used to race bmx said its easier to hop and control the bike i don’t think it would work out for mountain biking especially if you hit your pedal on a rock there’s nothing to protect you.i also use a different method i pull up on the handlebars get the front tire in the air then push down on the bars and push back on my pedals and it really gets the rear tire high in the air…just from my observations that with full suspension it makes going up a steep rock as a step is easier..imagine this front wheel on top of a ledge a foot or so off the ground..rear tire a foot below the front on flat ground how do you maintain momentum and still raise the rear tire up a foot off the ground to get on the ledge ? the guy in a video had a fs and the rear had his wait and when he lifted up from preloading it went right up where he wanted.

in reply to: Full Suspension easier to ride??? #113808

thanks mtbgreg1 i think that was my problem id wait too long for the front wheel to go down the other side of the log then raise the rear tire. also never heard of the twisting your wrists…ill have to wait tho cause my bike needs some maintenance

i got a 2011 Felt Q520 hardtail for $515 and i just got into the sport..has a lockout suntour shock and shimano drivetrain, disc brakes and it looks sweet…great bike but did not care for the stock tires and seat

in reply to: First mountain bike race #113571

    @dgaddis

One key thing i left out was that im 6’2” 240 pound guy..the first place guy came in at 1:36:27 and 2nd was 1:43:15…i dont think thats bad i was only 24 minutes behind the leader and 17 minutes behind 2nd place.i had cramps twice probably took about an extra 3 or 4 minutes … i even beat some skinny guys lol…i guess that’s just the competiveness in me..The course was very technical with hardly and downhill..mostly logs, dips, rocks, and climbs not to mention we were looking for pink ribbons that werent always that visible…the guy behind me said "You wouldn’t believe how many people went the wrong way" You either went right or down a long downhill so most went down and decided to not go back up or got lost and quit. theres definately room for improvement. BUT for my first race all i wanted to do was finish..thought that maybe i would quit but i was so close to the finish and the guy that finished ahead of me in 8th got around me in the mud and then shortly after i cramped up. and for the long course the leaders came in at 2:18:23 them guys are fast!!! but there is still faster guys than them
