This year i’ve been riding mostly with my brother in law and my son. actually we’ve just been trying to keep up with my son. i’m getting the GF for my B’day and he’s getting a C’dale Prophet (its last years model but he loves the lefty). i’m lucky right now, my wife is going to college but until she graduates shes working at the local bike shop. but i have been doing alot more lone riding than before.

Hello and welcome from Southwest Virginia. You folks from the Roanoke area ever try the Pandapas Pond trails? Carvin’s Cove is currently my favorite trail system but pandapas is much closer, about 1 hour away as opposed to 2 hours away.

i may as well use this area to introduce myself. i’m 35 and i’m from bluefield in southwest Virginia, about an hour and a half southwest of Roanoke and an hour west of Virginia Tech (Go Hokies). i’ve been mt. biking since 1998 i took about 3 years off due to not having anyone to ride with and just started again this past February. I am the proud owner of a 1999 Iron Horse 8.0, which was a great bike back in 1999, about to upgrade to a GF Hi-Fi Deluxe which will be my first full susser. my back has been asking for one for about the last 3 months and thats my b-day present to myself this January. good to meet everyone.

in reply to: Clipless or Flats for technical riding. #72414

i like being clipped for climbing and general singletrack, but i like flats for new stuff or highly technical terrain, so i use the shimano M324. they’re clipless on one side, flat on the other. best of both worlds
