You are aware of the irony of your signature…?
Good luck out there and come back safe so you can ride again here in the States!

    Thanx for your service.

Nice! I got a ’61 Willys Wagon. All original. Used to run great. Was my daily driver for many years. Fixed it up and drove it halfway cross the country twice.
It now needs more attention before it rots into the driveway!

Man, hook me up with whatever you guys are smoking…
Had a great crash this morning.
I was riding a new line I had built several months ago called ‘The Dragon’.
Still haven’t cleaned it yet. I almost did this morning.
It’s a sweet singletrack that leads to a series of steep, behind the seat descents with some tight corners and hairball twists and turns. One of the last turns takes you over a log and you sort of have to bounce down and into the 90 degree turn to the left. After that, there is a STEEP right, sweeping turn into a straight. At the very end, it suddenly steepens and right before your eyes is a large boulder.
Just before the boulder is a dogleg turn to the left. If you screw this up, you will endo over the boulder for a good 10-15 feet of air.
I was trying to clean my new trail without lowering the seat… 😏

As I made the turn to the left, around the boulder, I managed to nail the seriously steep turn to the right and went far off-line and held on for several nano-seconds before going over the bars and tumbling into the loam. The bike and I did two flips and I hung on for dear life as the storm debri was closing in..
The chainrung gashed my left ankle, drawing some good amount of blood.
As I got up from my entaglement with the local flora and fauna and fungi, I noticed that if I had cleaned that last turn and rocketed into the steep exit, I would have been greeted be a thigh-thick tree crossing the trail, about 3 feet off the ground, right at the end. There is no time to stop before the end on this exit.
I was meant to wipe out…
I’ll try to get some pics up late this week.

I see lots of rattlesnakes in the summer. Keep moving and pull your feet up. They like to sun themselves on the singletrack.

I often see squirrels and rabbits on the singletrack. They tend to run down the trail for a ways before darting into the brush. I try and catch up to them. The squirrels are pretty fast runners, but I can catch up to most of them. The rabbits are really fast and are extremely difficult to catch up to.

One time, I surprised a squirrel barreling down a singletrack called Vertigo.
My front wheel just missed him, and he then decided to bolt left. As he leaped, my bottom bracket or chainrung slammed into him with much force. I definetaly felt the impact. I hit the brakes, and stopped to see if he was ok. Couldn’t find him. I’m sure he had quite the headache at the very least.

Lots of reports of mountain lions where I ride. Seen a bunch of tracks, but still have yet to see one myself. Not real sure if I even want to see one…

I haven’t gone down Angwish in years. I always ride up it after cleaning some of the sick singletracks heading down to the first fireroad.
I’ve been working on climbing up The Wall. I’ve cleaned every section, I just need to piece it all together. It’s very hit/miss, but I’ve been able to climb 3/4 of the way up about ten times!
I’m headed out there again this morning. Unfortunately, The Wall will be too wet to climb. On the other hand, the recent rain has turned the singletracks (most of which I built – not on any map – except the one on my wall), into pure loamy bliss.

Angwish is always a fun climb. Middle rung and 3rd = altered state of concsiousness!
