Please email [email protected] with the email addresses for each of your accounts and we should be able to get things sorted.

Thanks for the reports! It sounds like you are talking about these maps:

How are you adding trails to those lists? Check-ins should automatically add the trail to the list the first time you ride tehre, but you can also add trails there by clicking the “I Rode It” button on a trail page.

Figuring out how you’re adding trails to the map will help us narrow down the issue. Thanks!

in reply to: How to add a product for review #593325

We’ve paused new product additions for the moment. Over the years the list of products has become a little tough to manage (many never received a review, while others haven’t been available for many years) so we’re rethinking how these pages should work. Let us know how you use the existing pages, and what you would like to see in the future!

in reply to: What’s with the ads? #592901

The short answer is, ads pay for the content. Singletracks does offer an ad-free membership you can learn about here: https://www.singletracks.com/support/

There are definitely a lot of ads in that screen shot, but note the two at the bottom that partially cover the content can be dismissed.

Sunspot, we found the issue was cookie were being set to expire at the end of the session, which fits with your description. Now, we’ve confirmed cookies are being set to expire in 1 year.

Are you still being logged out after closing your browser today?

in reply to: Account Logout #591948

Thanks Ken. You’ll probably need to log in once more to apply the fix, but after that it should hold for a year.

in reply to: Account Logout #591946

Progress! I think we found the issue, but time will tell. Confirmed that the login cookie was being set to expire at the end of the session; now it’s set to expire several months in the future. I don’t want to say it’s fully solved — we’ll have to wait and see — but it’s looking good.

Thanks to everyone for helping us troubleshoot. Fingers crossed that the next time you log in, it will stick!

Thanks ZipHead. So you’re only being logged out when using forum pages, or is it the whole site?  How about article comments?

We did some digging today and tweaked a few settings. Fingers crossed this helps!

Sorry you’re having trouble. I’m able to stay logged in for weeks at a time on my desktop computer, but I have noticed logins are not as sticky on mobile. I use Chrome on both iPhone and Mac.

Are you using the site on mobile, or on a desktop computer? Which browser? Hopefully we can narrow down the issue and get it fixed!

in reply to: Rear tire never spins freely #591158

Very strange, that sounds frustrating. I assume you’re running disc brakes, and there’s not an obvious point in the rotation where the wheel is rubbing/slowing.

What kind of rear axle are you running: quick release, or a thru axle? With a quick release there’s more of a chance that an overtight axle could be adding resistance and slowing the wheel.

in reply to: Trek STORE sold my Lawaway 2 days later #587996

Wow, that sounds super frustrating. Selling a bike you had on layaway isn’t right, though I guess it’s possible that was a mistake and not intentional.

Everything you describe after that, unfortunately, is pretty normal right now. We’re seeing that bike inventory is super tight everywhere, and whenever bikes become available they are being snapped up right away. Even getting on the list for a bike months from now is tough.

Sounds like a great solution. Take a 3D scan of the hanger and maybe others in a similar situation can print the replacement part. 🙂

Unfortunately there isn’t a centralized source I know of. A good start would be to reach out to each of the MTB clubs in the state to ask them for their project lists.

Weird! Glad to hear subsequent notifications are coming through correctly. I’m going to blame mandrill, our transactional email provider for dropping the ball on that one. 🙂

You been riding much lately? Seems like it’s been raining for weeks here, I’m getting really anxious for spring…

Thanks schwim! Looks like it was just a blank email? I see there was a reply to that thread recently…

in reply to: Iframe Trail Conditions #579573

It looks like there was a bug, but it should be fixed now.

We have some additional updates planned for the conditions widget which should roll out this season.

in reply to: The new pop up ads are about to drive me away #509472

Thanks Hap. Which browser are you using, and what type of device are you on?

in reply to: The new pop up ads are about to drive me away #509161

Right on. Paying for servers is helpful, but we also have a staff of writers who create all the great content you’re reading and take the photos you’re viewing, and they need to eat, ha!

We did reach out to our ad provider about the issue and they are trying some tweaks to reduce the content shift that happens sometimes.

For those who are having problems with the ads, are you viewing on mobile or desktop? This info will be helpful for us as we consider any changes or updates.

in reply to: The new pop up ads are about to drive me away #509090

rmap01, let me know if you find you’re getting logged out too often. Ideally you would be able to login once on every device you use, and not have to do it again for a very long time.

in reply to: The new pop up ads are about to drive me away #509054

Sunspot, it sounds like you’re referring to what’s known as “in-article” ads. The in-article ads do load as you scroll down the page and if you’re a fast reader, they might be loading after you’ve already scrolled past them, which causes the text you’re reading to shift down. Ad tech is always improving and getting faster, but I agree it’s still laggy. 🙁

Unfortunately there are multiple reasons we can’t always specify the ad size before the page loads, one of which is to ensure pages (and ads) are mobile-friendly.

We hate ads as much as anyone else so we’re definitely not turning a deaf ear. I personally use Singletracks 8-10 hours a day and I purposely do not have an ad-free membership on my account so I can get the full ad experience, and we’re constantly re-evaluating which ad placements make sense. Trust me, there are many more annoying and obtrusive ad types out there, and every now and then one of them will come through. In that case, we immediately work with our ad provider to track down and disable the offending ad. If you ever see an ad that is covering the content, please take a screenshot and send it my way.

I really wish there were a simple way to make the ads disappear completely… maybe one day. For many years we charged for trail maps which we hated having to do, and this year we were finally able to make ’em free. Next up: find a way to survive without ads. 🙂
