Oh I’m jealous. Would love to own one of those one day. Maybe I’ll pick up a 2011 one this summer. Full XTR kit or sell the group for a X0 2×10. I was so close. I was planning on submitting the full eleven81 bike components catalog. Just never got to it in-time. Oh well, hey trek7k got any spare sortie frames lying around? 😃 Also thanks for the shirt and stickers I wear it around when I’m working at the bike shop and the stickers grace my stand and bike rack.
How much do those weight and at what width do you have them in? I’ve been running Schwalbe nobby nic front and Schwalbe racing ralph rear both in 2.1. The Nobby nic comes in at 356grams and the racing ralph is a tad bit heavier. Running them ghetto tubeless with gorrilla tape and stans.
I recommend Schwalbe Nobby Nic on the front and Schwalbe Racing Ralph on the back. Both tires are very light and extremely fast rolling. The Nobby Nic on the front is very grippy in all situations with a wide spaced tread for great mud shedding abilities. The Racing Ralph is a fast rolling knobby. I found this combination to be great for the singletrack on the east coast as it does well in loose leaf-litter and hardpack singletrack. Another great combination would be a Stick-E Rubber Nevegal in the front for grip and a Dual Tread Combo Small Block Eight in the rear. I prefer to have a lower profile tire in the back for less rolling resistance because the rear tire is almost always weighted (because you’re sitting) and therefore less likely to loose traction; in the front, I choose to run a very grippy front tire because that’s where I feel most traction is needed as the tire is usually never weighted as heavily as the rear unless you’re standing and also if your front tire slips you’re in trouble but if your rear tire slips its usually easily recovered. A bit verbose but there are my two cents. 😎
I got a set of ITS System 4 tires from singletracks.com and a PS3 and some random bike tools. Also a singletracks t-shirt. Wooo!

December 22, 2010 at 20:44 in reply to: Diamondback Contest: Win a Bike Frame, Pedals, and More! #93629I’m looking forward to the announcements. At least we all get stickers. A ton of Singletracks.com stickers are going to find their way onto my race hardtail once this is over.

December 19, 2010 at 17:51 in reply to: Diamondback Contest: Win a Bike Frame, Pedals, and More! #93622Is there a reason some of my Mavic gear I submitted hasn’t appeared yet? I know arm and leg warmers and socks along with gloves do qualify as mountain gear as I wear them on my wintery rides. 😀 Probably just a logjam with all the submissions you guys probably get!
December 11, 2010 at 10:13 in reply to: Diamondback Contest: Win a Bike Frame, Pedals, and More! #93621I hope he enjoys the frame. They ride nice. I was thinking of putting my 100mm Durin on the front x9 drivetrain and Crossmax wheelset on it 😮 The 100mm fork on the front steepens out the head angle a bit, just how I like it.

December 10, 2010 at 11:11 in reply to: Diamondback Contest: Win a Bike Frame, Pedals, and More! #93618I don’t think I can catch up to joe with his 800 points. As a mechanic at a diamondback dealer those Sortie Blacks come by often. I’ve been drooling over one for a while. 😉 We also carry Raleigh which are always great values.
