Welcome mros895656. Hope you enjoy this site. I’m new to riding and have learned a lot here.

in reply to: what kind of bike #69742

I’m still new to mountain bike riding. My old Gary Fisher doesn’t have any suspension at all. If I had the choice I think I would choose a front suspension. I really like this old bike though even w/o the suspension.

I always wear my helmet. I’m always careful when I ride but you never know when something might go wrong. I feel more confident having my helmet which makes the ride much more enjoyable since I dont have my mind on falling. Although, a helmet may not be a total guarantee you won’t get hurt it greatly reduces the chances.

This guy past me on a recumbent bike while I was hiking once. He seemed to be going pretty fast. He even made it all the way up this steep hill.

Thanks a lot. Those are really good tips. I have some rain-x laying around too.

Thanks Craigcreekrider. Mountain biking is an expensive hobby. I take it duct taping a mag lite to my bike helmet is not an efficient means of lighting lol.

Thanks aabiking. I never thought about night riding. What kind of lights do you need to ride at night? Is there a special kind you would need. It seems to get pretty dark in the forest areas where I live.

I will email the serial number to them and see what they say. It is a pretty old bike so it will be interesting to see how old it actually is lol.

Carrying a weapon sounds like a good idea. A knife would be good I think for humans. I think most animals would leave you alone. As long as youre not out in the woods trying to play tricks on bigfoot you should be ok.

    Hello everyone,

I am new to the site and just started riding a few months ago. This website is pretty cool. I bought this old Gary Fisher Marlin that seems to work good. Athough I don’t know much about bikes. Is there a way to find out more about it? Like what year it was made? Thanks for any information you have.
