they had some guy hold the bike up, they got the camera ready, then they told the guy "RUN" and they took as many pictures as possible before it hit the ground.

had a similar problem recently, fixed it by cleaning the bike of dirt and grit, lubricating the drive train, and using electrical tape to secure my brake and shifter cables where they were loose over the frame.

i could be wrong but i think it was a slack cable that was clicking as it tapped the frame when i was peddling, the cables on my bike run under my rear shock and i think the slight bob was pushing them a little. in any case it doesn’t make the sound now.

had this problem myself recently, and i know its been fixed but i will tell my story anyway.
i was getting a clicking and ticking sound from my bike, but only when i was peddling on the bike (so i couldn’t replicated it when i was standing still). it was coming from the centre of the frame/headset, i was concerned that my frame might have been fractured or cracked.
i cleaned my bike up, got all the dirt and grit off it and checked it over, no obvious cracks that i could see (but man the dirt covered up the scratches nicely 😛 ). after this i set about checking all my cabling and routing over the frame. using black electrical tape i taped down some lose sections which were rubbing the frame, as well as able to contact it (black electrical tape blends right in on a black bike 😃 ).
took it for a test ride and no more clicking sound, so somewhere along the line i fixed it, wish i had done incremental tests so i knew what i did that fixed it…

went back to the store today, showed them the problem. they tried the other pump they had in stock and found that it also didn’t work. their work bench one worked fine, as well as their backup, so they lent me their back up until they can get new ones in (of a different brand) and i get one of those.

    i suppose that’s a win?

another angle, notice how the o-ring is "above" the pin.

the threads look stripped in the last pic, however they’re not, just bad lighting i guess. i tried it on a schrader valve and it screws on fine and tight, but similarly it doesn’t depress the pin (or so i think…)

well if i were you i would do two things. firstly find yourself a sizing chart/calculator to give yourself an indicator of where you fit in the grand scheme of things. secondly see if you can find a store nearby that has one in stock, any size, and take that for a test ride if possible. if its larger or smaller than what you want to order in then keep that in mind in regards to how it feels. when i bought my last bike it was a size smaller than i thought i needed, but its worked out pretty well so far. i test rode the size smaller than i thought i needed and it turned out to be perfect. and i couldn’t argue with the price on the spot 😃

    good luck.

finally got a chance to test it out. the $60 ebay bike rack works a charm! very stable and secure. my only complaint is that i have to use one of those adaptor bars to carry my bike on it due to the frame shape. my issue with this is not that i have to use one but that the front wheel sits quite low level with if not below the exhaust pipe while using it. so i run a good risk of the wheel contacting the ground when it comes to driveways and speed bumps. i guess i could take the front wheel off but that would unbalance the thing a little too much for my liking.

all in all though very please and surprised with my cheap ass ebay rack. and happy to have finally been able to test it out. note to self, don’t break wrist again.

if sizing is your only concern then head down to the store and ask for a test ride

in reply to: just got my cast off after breaking my wrist #110284

just got back from my first ride after the break. rode around a river area near where i live, all walking pathways and road. went well, almost no complaints from my wrist. the muscles running from my thumb up my arm are a bit stiff and sore afterwards though, probably from shifting gears and the like.

i am however so out of shape now its not funny (compared to what i used to be anyway). i was only able to complete two loops of the river track and i was wrecked. before the injury when i was riding several times a week if i was to ride that river track i could complete up to 10 loops running almost flat out the entire way. looks like ive got a lot of work to do to get my fitness back up.

klowe8828, i ordered one of those wrist braces so that i could get back on the trails and get back to work (i do a lot of lifting and the like at work, but I’m a student so huzzah for that as well). ill let everyone know how it/they go. i got both the 661 braces, simply because i couldn’t decide what would be better and i wanted the full one for work. only cost me $40 (AUD) for both which i think is a steal. just have to wait for them to arrive now.

thanks for all the well wishes guys, appreciate it!

thanks for the advice and kind words guys.

I have a friend who’s a physio so i might ask them about it if I’m not getting the movement back as quickly as I would like. I did however have an idea in the shower this morning as I was scrubbing the copious amounts of dead skin off (there’s still more, I feel like a freakin onion). would it be wise to use a heat pack and or deep heat on it, then try and stretch it out? from my (limited) understanding muscles act somewhat like rubber under heat conditions, so heating the area would loosen them up and allow me to stretch them with more ease/less pain. thoughts on that?

shut up and take my money! I live in an apartment though so… bridges off the balcony down to the carpark? 😃

    also how much are these?

EDIT: never mind, they don’t list cost and I don’t think their installation and shipping goes international 😢

after much research and consultation with local suppliers which all came to a moot point, i bought the crappy ebay one. then on the same day, satisfied with my last resort purchase i went for a ride and promptly broke my hand. the rack arrived two days later. whilst it looks good in person, and i believe it will do the job, i cant drive nor ride for some time now so all i can do is look at it… money well spent so far 😢

Thanks for the encouragement and sympathy. Just so you know I wasn’t pushing it I was climbing across some roots and my bike just seemed to collapse under me. I naturally followed it down taking the handlebar end almost directly to the middle of my chest. I was travelling all of 2 MPH.

man, as i said to my friends the other day, the big falls you walk away from, its the little ones that kill you

broke my hand on monday, cant ride for maybe 2 months (thats what they tell me anyway)… know that feel bro, know that feel

in reply to: Working when the weather is nice #109144

    well i broke my hand on monday and thus no riding for me for ages. it was a beautiful day today, i went for a walk… A WALK DAMN IT! walking by all the land features thinking "i could jump off that", "i could ride down that, or up it", and "i could do that drop". not an ounce of pain from my hand… but pain in my heart ;_;

in reply to: i gone done goofed #109024

By state I meant state of being injured. I COULD drive and I did drive myself home after the crash but I don’t feel comfortable with only one hand to do things in a car.

P.s typing takes ages one handed…

in reply to: i gone done goofed #109020

if i do ill put my gopro on for sure, wasnt wearing it today so no one can see my fail… but i cant drive in this state so… damn.

thanks for the responses guys, but i honestly can’t afford a roof rack or tow ball setup at this stage (huzzah for being a student). i only recently got a new bike and that forced excessive spending into the ground for the time being. i might just have to give one of these things a go and hope for the best. that or tell my mates to make their own way to the trails…
