I appreciate your help! I will definitely try some of those recommendations. It’s winter here, so I don’t ride the HD3 right now. Just trying to get it ready for spring.
Sometimes the front wanders a bit. But mostly it’s that I find myself wishing I had an easier gear. So therefore it is probably strength/stamina related.
What are your thoughts on upgrading the drivetrain? The current SRAM NX on the bike is something I’ve considered upgrading. You can get the GX Eagle fairly cheap nowadays, and it’s a 1×12
I guess what I mean by “trail” is better climbing ability. The typical trails I ride here in Minnesota have short ups with short downs. I really noticed the struggle when I went out to Colorado and had to deal with longer climbs. I know a lot of this comes down to practice, strength, and mental ability. I just want to get this fit dialed in, being fairly new to the sport, this comes a bit difficult.
Currently my bars are 780 with a 50mm stem. Going to switch to a 35mm for sure. I have broad shoulders, so bar width has never been too much of an issue. It’s more of my shorter legs I think.
Probably cleaning my bike. I have a cheaper plus bike for winter…but have yet to find a good way to clean it
Thanks for the detailed response. I have played with the seat and suspension settings quite a bit. Definitely could play with the suspension settings more though. I currently have the 50mm stem and have considered a 35. However, currently the bike does seem to wander on climbs. But that’s most likely body position and weight distribution. It also feels like the rear end is a bit long for my liking…if that makes sense.
I really like the 2018 Mojo 3, and that’s kind of the direction I’m leaning at the moment. LBS said they would give me $2500 for my current ride, so that is somewhat tempting.
I’m well aware I will be losing money on this deal. But what’s most important to me is the right ride. It has a dropper post on it as well. Would $2800 be a reasonable starting price?
Thanks for all the tips! I’m definitely hoping it’s me and not the bike. I do just fine on the singletrack in my area. I really started to struggle when I took my bike out of town and had to ride for 3 miles up mountains to get a good downhill. I guess it’s more time in the saddle.
Where is the drop off point for the last section of the Colorado trail?
again, thanks for all of your help
Wow…thanks for the reply. I will have a personal shuttle haha. I’m the only Mountain Biker in my family. I appreciate all of the suggestions!
