I did the 3 bears today and I saw one guy in one going maybe 40-50 mph down one if the hills.

Does your Klein have a little black thing on the bottom. My old klein does and you can get that to work pretty well but I’ve also been having some problems with that.

in reply to: Chain suck #69629

Is that where the chain gets stuck between the crank and the chainring? I might be able to help except I’m not sure what your talking about. ;)

You could get the kind that ataches (spelling sucks today) to your seat post.

Thanks again for all the tips! 😄 We are also looking at Kona and Cannondale as we can get 20-30% of on all of the Kona bikes and some of the Cannondale.

I usually go to Briones, it’s a nice little network with a lot of hills. It’s not very technical though. 😢

Thanks for all the help! He likes the superlight, but he backed down a little when he saw the price of the high end one. ($4667) 😆

in reply to: XC Bikes #69586

He’s not the technical kind of person.

in reply to: XC Bikes #69584

Thanks, I’ll show them to him when he gets home.

Sorry for that bad advice. 😳 I took into consideration on what you said, and now I’m wondering if after going down a big enough hill to heat up your rotors you go through a big puddle. Could that warp them?

in reply to: XC Bikes #69582

Does anyone have a link to those, I’ve heard of them but can’t really find them.

in reply to: XC Bikes #69579

I also though that the Salsa Caballero looked good. Has anyone heard anything bad about that bike. Link

in reply to: Disc brakes #69502

I would think that the front would be the first to overheat, but with a larger rotor… You shoudl probably get a larger one in the back, as I think it will solve your problem. Scratch that. 😀 That happens to all rotors, we had that happen on our van.

Yea I have a light bike (only 23 pounds ;) and I don’t usually bomb down hills, just because it’s a rigid bike and shakes the hell out of me. I have to run them a little bit tighter than otherwise but my wheels are true and its fine.

in reply to: Bike computer #69056

Except when they fail, I had 700 miles on the odemeter and it just reset everything 😢

    in reply to: A few questions… #69571

It doesn’t normally happen, but it did happen 3 times on that ride. . .

I’m only 13 and I end up teaching my dad morestuff about MTB’ing than he does. 😆

Also will hitting rocks (the type you find on a gravel road, the slighy larger than golf ball ones) at about 20 mph do anything to my rims? I try to avoid them anyways just because its so bumpy. ;)

    in reply to: A few questions… #69567

Thanks, yellowdman my rear derrailer is pretty new (only about 100 mi) so I don’t think that the springs are bad. I also got the chain at that time and I don’t think that it stretched that much. I think I may try and take out a link or two of the chain. Thanks for the advice.

How much would it be? Is the frame ok? Is there any damage to the frame or componets? How old is it, appox?
