[url:1f8zinof]http://ridewithgps.com/trips/517200[/url:1f8zinof] I think you can get a GPS track from there. Also Barton Warnock Center is right across from the trailhead on HWY 170. There is the IMBA epic 50+ miler that incorporates this and much more of the trail in the state park. Desert Sports in Terlongua has the map..as well Barton Warnock Center.

Do you have a link to the GPS routes of the trails you rode? I was looking into putting together 3-4 days of bike packing in the area and I’d love to be able to link up the better trails and sites if possible. You are the second person who has mentioned Contrabando trail as being one of the best out there.

    Great post!

I’ve checked a bunch of sites out. Some1 today recommended endomundo or some name like that. I like ridewithgps the best.

Damn, I’m in the same range and ordered the same size 😮[/quote:3e4i9gom]

But based on the cycling jersey from the westernspirits sizing and style–is a 2X and club cut, same manufacturer, same country of manufacturer–2X should fit ! I wonder if the cut was made wrong… maybe yours will fit !

VERY interesting; I relooked the Texas State jersey from westernspirit is in fact 2X AND is a club cut from cahmp-sys and made in China ! The two jerseys therefore one would think would fit the same EXACT way. argh. The WesternSpirit fits loose in the gut; the singletracks looks like a stuffed sausage.

Came today; looks awesome. I will place it in the closet with the rest my too small jerseys that someday maybe I can wear.

Yup at 220 pounds 2X is not gunna do. I have a 3X texas state jersey from western spirit. Actually that is the only out of probably 20 + jerseys sized from xl to 3XL that fit well. I really do need to be 175 or 185 again. ugh. I have a coupla 2x/3x jersies that fit when I weigh closer to 205.

I rode there a handful of times back in the winter/spring of 2003 before heading to Hawaii. I was in Warrant Officer Advanced Course at Ft Lee.

I agree it is an awesome trail system.
I cracked my ribs good on the end of my handlebars on a particular fall. Got me out of leading PT anyway. lol.

My Edge 305 has survived numerous crashes whilst residing on its handle bar mount. The one time I carried it in a jersey pocket and crashed equated to a smashed screen. Numero dos going strong.

The Kaaawa Valley ride is usually on Kualoa Ranch which is venue to the annual 24 Hours of Hell Paradise and occasional other race and MTB events throughout the year. I cannot speak for the tour but seems a rather steep price.

See if the DHHawaii forum is still active–although the name says downhill I think you may find someone willing to get together for a ride..also on the MTBR forums-Hawaii board.

Have fun; I enjoyed my 3 years (less a year in Iraq) on Oahu. And the road biking is very nice too–check out Hawaii Bicycling League for road ride schedule. There I beleive is a Saturday morning Heavy Breather’s ride that is very scenic that goes between Waikiki Elementary by Diamond Head out to Makapu Point or near Waimiea and back– 30 to 50 miles depending how individual riders feel.

Yes the trail Steven mentioned is where it’s at! Nicknamed Cambodia. A loop consisting of forest road, single track and road would be to park at the Shark’s Cove Food Land, climb the road up to the boy’s camp where you will see the gate and forest road. Take this forest road a ways and look carefully for the trail entrance on the left. At the trail’s end you can take some moto-rutted gnarll forest road to the motobike park and then back on the highway take a left to get back to Foodland.

Also Hu’ulua Loop is a nice scenic ride.

If Bill Barnfield is not renting, and I’ve heard several stories since I left in 06 that he had quit the bike business to concentrate on his surf business solely, then Bike Shop Hawaii with a location in Aeia is the ticket. While there ride Aeia Loop.

The Austin Ridgeriders, Waco Bicycle Club, and Southern Texas Off Road Mountainbikers are also very active clubs.

ARR and Storm members most often post on Bikemojo.com/speak

I think DirtRag has an online/download version plus I recall a couple other online-only mags launching at Interbike last year. Anyone know which ones I’m talking about?

Well not sure when its inceptionwas but xxcmag I became acquainted with maybe a year ago. I like it better than any other mtb pub–well Mountain Flyer is awesome for a print mag.
