I use 45-50 lbs. all the time and haven’t had any problems yet, but I happen to like a firm ride (for both my bike and my car) no matter the surface I’m riding.

No, I just posted that link because it was the only thing I could find on CL that gave a good profile shot. For her bike, I’d say that the limit will be about $800 or so because she’s not nearly into biking as I am. She may do some beginner stuff, but nothing too extreme so it’ll primarily be for the bike paths around the house.

This is the plan for my buddy and I next weekend.

    I’m super-excited.

This would be an epic opportunity to experience real wilderness riding. This would put my new Mamba through the paces up to its limit if I’m brave enough, too.

I hope this becomes a reality because I’m excited to see everything on a bike instead of on foot or from a car.

I’ve contemplated getting one and, based on the posts here, now I think I will.

Did you copy the IMG Code of the picture from your picture you uploaded to Photobucket? I have been using Photobucket for years and never had any issues uploading to and from unless the internet was having issues at the time.

Copy and paste the IMG Code of the picture to your posting. I will admit, I have not been on PB for a little while, and the features have changed a bit, but it still works. I just tried it out and it worked fine for me anyways.

That problem now seems to be sorted out, and yes, I pasted the IMG code, but the best I can get is a link. At least that way, people can still look at pictures and see what I mean.

Why not just upload them to Singletracks?

I’d love to but the photo galleries have major problems in the fact that sometimes the pictures I uploaded are there and sometimes they’re not (nothing shows in my gallery at all right now), and the photos I looked at posted by others show in my gallery as if I uploaded them, and then there are things I didn’t upload at all from my phone are there.

I posted a question about this problem in the forum help section but–suprisingly enough–the post disappeared.

This is frustrating and I’m not very happy with the site at this time.

yeah, more important then carrying a first aid kit is the knowledge of what to do incase of emergency.

Absolutely correct. I know enough to get me through but in this case, more is absolutely better.

in reply to: 1st singletrack ride with 6 year olds #100052

I’m the big bicyclist of the family, but it’s apparently contagious because my girls want to ride all the time. That’s not just the eight year-old who’s getting really good at riding, or the six year-old who’s about to lose the training wheels, but also the baby of the family, who’s almost three.

My son is 10 and he’s going to get a nice dirt bike for Christmas; he’s the least enthusiastic of the four, but I think I can get him to want to ride with me if we do some really easy stuff in the beginning.

Did you copy and paste your pictures "IMG Code" from Photobucket to Singletracks?

Yes, but it gave links and I was trying to post pictures for visual impact, but no go, so I switched to the IMG, but that didn’t work either so I’ll go back to URL. Let me know if that works.

A nurse I know gave me an excellent recommendation for something to carry: feminine pads. Genius.

I also hope to take a wilderness medic course this summer. The one I’m considering came highly recommended.

That’s what it was starting to look like. Thanks, all.

I just tried Photobucket and it sucks. I sent my pictures to it twice but it still can’t find them.

What kind of a budget do you have to work with, Kiel?

in reply to: Help with finding trail bike #113939

I more-or-less agree with akjoshua’s thoughts here, but there’s yet another alternative: getting a used bike from a bike shop. Generally they’re already tuned, inspected, and, if needed, parts replaced. You may even get a short warranty, too.

in reply to: Got a "home" trail? #69144

I was out of biking for a few years and when I came back, a lot had changed. That said, all the years I rode my Trek 930 were just on the street or bike paths. Now that I have a serious rig, my 2013 Mamba, I’m ready to get a lot more serious, especially since I live in Colorado.

Thus far, my "home trail" is probably the entirety of South Valley Park in Ken Caryl, but I hope to find trails that are more fun, more challenging, and faster in the near future.

    Recommendations, CO riders?

Is it my imagination, but are the sixth and ninth pictures of the same guy?

    Great gallery of buffoonery, too!

in reply to: Pics at the Lair!!! #112864

Our Colorado fall is pretty, but it only lasts about two weeks, which is lame.

in reply to: A great Halloween Morning! #113617

Is this South Valley Park, by chance?

in reply to: Joining the Dark Side #114196

I hope to get a road bike, too, but if I do, it’ll be a Trek, of course.

in reply to: Newby from Central PA #112885

Addiction is right! Glad to have another PA member on board, too; I’m originally from just south of Pittsburgh and remember all the places I used to play as a kid would make awesome MB trails now.

Maybe I’ll get out there to visit family and get acquainted with MBing back home some day.

in reply to: Hello, all. I’m new, so be gentle, lol #113173

New member in S/E Denver here.

My ride is a 2013 Trek Mamba.
