  • in reply to: This bike bell is seriously dope #186394

I have bells on all my bikes and I use the bells often and in many different situations:

    • Giving hikers and bikers a heads up when I’m approaching from behind
    • Offering a friendly “hello” when approaching people from the front (99% of people smile when they hear a bike bell)
    • Signaling to lost riders. On our group ride at night we tend to get separated every now and then and we use our bells to find each other on the trail.
    • Offering encouragement at races

all valid reasons I have never thought of … thanks for sharing. I have one on my commuting bike but not my mountain bike.

who runs a bell on their mountain bike?

just so you know I select the correct bike in strava but I think this was taking everything over. not just my mountain bike rides.

in reply to: Is Trail Work as Fun as Riding? #186142

I would say probably not as fun. I am not sure where or how to find out about trail work. I have wanted to participate but information is difficult to come by.

I don’t wear earbuds on the trail. As people have said I am outside to enjoy the woods.

this is interesting but I am not sure totally what or if I am signed up. how do I sign up/ make sure I am signed up? etc.

    why no singletracks on tapatalk?

in reply to: Share Your Latest Badge #118379

Oh i would have one if I could afford the monthly plan. So i guess I am out of the competition. Sad to see Singletracks cut out those less technologically current as others.

I would love to have at least the NC mountain biker badge.

Seems like a cool idea but what if you do not have a smart phone.. so no app… so no way to check in…. 😢

Definitely on my list of places to ride. Was that your first time riding there?[/quote:1agfpmk9]

No I have ridden the Overland Victory trail before but not Dark Mountain. It was a ton of fun and lots of options on DM. I think there are 6 trails off the main road. OVT has a 2.5 mile loop off of it.

Good times you should check it out.

in reply to: Heat Wave #100597

We have been "enjoying" the heat and humidity like much of the country. My riding buddy and I planned to drive to Dark Mountain Trail at W. Kerr Scott Resevoir. We drove through one of the worst storms I have ever seen. Tons of clouds to ground lightening and eventually the rain was so strong that it seemed like we had submerged like a submarine. <Had a picture I am not sure how to post it.>

We got to the park and the sky stayed a little cloudy but the woods was like riding through a sauna. The heat came back and soaked us through and through.

Sweet ride ended by wading into the lake to cool off and and refresh.

i understand brand marketing thing but I think you should keep it as Goo. just put your information in your signature. perhaps that would be a better way to "market" yourself.

    just my $.02

Goo i follow your blog. good stuff.

Someday I will make it up there. Hard to check in with trails without a smart phone. I know so 2009 of me not to have one.

How about bike racks for wagons or little flatbed trailers attached to a wagon? 😃

I live in the Triad area (Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point) This a great area to live and ride. Check out the trails on singletracks.com and then I would also recommend this [url:166i7nbz]http://www.bikeforums.net/index.php[/url:166i7nbz] They have an section to find riders and a mtn biking section.

I am on there as RidingMatthew
