  • in reply to: Stumpy FSR Comp as a first bike? #98345

I also have an FSR Elite it’s the best bike I have ever ridden hands down. It does everything I ask it to do and I think the comp has some really decent components on it as well. I don’t think you would be disappointed. But I would recommend giving the Santa Cruz a look too you never know what you might prefer riding.

Welcome I would recommend taking a drive out to Lechworth State park it’s a great place to ride it can be challenging and is well worth the effort also if you don’t mind about an hour or so drive Shindagin Hollow in Ithaca is the best riding in Central NY in my opinion problem is not too many places are open just yet pretty wet and don’t want to damage the trails I think as of right now Dryer rd park is probably the best place for the next couple of weeks Enjoy the ride!

You certainly do have a tough choice ahead of you both bikes are pretty sweet I have personally rode the EX8 and I loved it! As I understand it the 26 will fly out of the gate and the 29er is gonna roll over everything a little nicer again it really does come down to preference I am a 26 man myself I’m just not fond of the look of the 29" wheels makes the bike look too small or something I’m not sure. I can’t judge the ride though I haven’t tried it. I can say for sure the EX8 is one hell of a ride and I think it might be better component wise also. You certainly wouldn’t be disappointed with it.

I had an i-Drive 3.0 myself years ago and it was an awesome bike back then I loved it. However that being said you could have purchased a closeout 2010 GT Force 3.0 for about $1000 at almost any dealer with a warranty and probably free tuneups for 6 to 12 months and you know it hasn’t taken a beating. I’m just saying.
