go to youtube and watch the XO vs. XTR video its 45secs but shows but RD on the same exact trail section and it shows the movement of both RDs and the XO blows it away. I’m pretty sure I wont buy a bike if it has shimano on it.

in reply to: Question about 2×10 #94527

Okay, I got the Sram XO 2×10 and the upgrade cut any entire pound off my bike and I have ridden one trail on it for a brief moment and it wasnt that big change…the shifting is crisp and FD is perfect no rub and NO WAITING for the shift to happen which is the biggest selling point. I love it…I envision every MTB coming off the showroom floor with 2×10 drivetrains. The only disadvantage I can see is since the big ring on 2×10 is smaller than the typical 3 ring setup on long flat runs you wont get the same top speed. I will sacrifice a little top speed for the 10spd setup

in reply to: How many riders do you ride with? #95612

I have three guys I ride with exclusively and then on weekends with usually end up with a large group ranging from 6 to 20 riders. I started out lone wolf style but I found that riding in groups are fun and safer. I recommend connecting with club or MTB group of some kind and the groups website will usually have forums with members asking if anyone wants to ride or join a group ride. You will become a better rider that way to… because the groups with better riders will push your limitations

in reply to: Tell us which Bucket List trails did/didn’t stack up #95792

    Ridden Trails

    1. Raccoon Mountain (Chattanooga,TN): In the smoky mountains of Tennessee and its a great trail probably my favorite thus far. Lots of great views, super well maintained challenging singletrack, and the perfect length mileage not too long and not too short. I believe its also on the list of IMBA epic trails systems.
    2. Deer Valley (Park City, UT): Great downhill and single track

    Trails I want to ride

    1. FATS (Forked Area Trail System)
    2. Porcupine Rim
    3. Slick Rock
    4. any trail in Western North Carolina

I bought XO 2×10 the other day but I bet you’ll be happy with either. As long as its not that Shimano garbage. 😃

    in reply to: 27.5"??? #87898

I know KHS and Haro both make 650bs they come only in a Hardtail design and only one company makes a proper fitting front shock. MB action last year ran a big article comparing all three sizes 26 27.5 and 29…but they never gave a definite answer in the article however a guy wrote in a month later saying… which is the best? and MB action responded saying 27.5 is in their opinion the best overall size.

I’ll wait until a major company like Specialized, Giant, or Trek come out with a Full Suspension 650b…I may be waiting awhile though.

in reply to: Question about 2×10 #94523

Talking about Shifting stuff…The bikes design has to play a role. I had a Haro Xeon with this really complicated rear suspension set up and it constantly had shifting issues especially the FD but I switched to a Titus FSR design and I havent had the shifting tuned in over 6 months and its still as crisp and dialed-in as one off the show room floor.

    Hi Martino

Your welcome…If you have any further questions don’t hesitate to ask or PM me…Just remember to follow all the literature or check Sram online for details on installation.

Thanks again I will… my LBS will definitely install this stuff I learned the hard way about not going thru the LBS on big purchases and installs…My first bike was bought off the internet.

in reply to: Question about 2×10 #94505

Well….Here in the south there are no mountains and the hills that are here dont require a small ring just momentum. And thanks element I realize that I need the 2×10 XO package which I will pick up at my LBS. Too bad that the XO package is $1500 that alot of cheese but should be worth it.

For the price his LBS wants to sell a Stumpjumper comp he can get this http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/mot … team_x.htm. Look at the Specialized site, they are selling it for 150 or so more dollars than Specialized Suggested retail price. http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBC … temId=9247

You gotta read the fine print…Specialized doesnt ship online orders unless you are an authorized dealer. I bought online for my first and I truly regret it. I had to mend some fences at the LBS but after buying a set of $900 wheels all was well again(and other countless items).[/quote:2gsdmq2w]

Did I say something about ordering online from Specialized?[/quote:2gsdmq2w]

I just got a Cygolite Trion 600 Wireless, its around $315-$360 depending on what store your shopping and I love it. Its handle bar only mount b/c its on the heavy side (houses the battery)but WOW it lights up the trail

Republicans ride Mountain Bikes and Democrats ride seatless uni cycles, everybody knows that 😮

Thats awesome, now that you have figured out your line and pace necessary to conquer the features you should smoke that section from now on. I remember a creek crossing feature that has a nasty root descent to a sandy creek up a very very steep rooty step up, its very difficult and was a "hike-a-bike" section for me, until a riding buddy convinced me it could be done and after several efforts I now conquer it everytime. 😎

I’m going tonight for a loop around 5pm should be awesome, cant wait to hit the trail then too enjoy some ice cold beers

in reply to: Serious Question #84455

Well in the true democratic form, the people have spoken and option #2 is what it will be.

    thanks for the perspective

in reply to: flats or clip ins #83620

I ride Crank Bros. Eggbeaters, super light, easy to clip in, you dont come out of them, and they clear mud with ease. I ride singletrack and nothing else though.

Platforms are used a lot in freeride and downhill
Clipless pedals are used in XC and Trail but it all comes down to personal preference. I like clipless because my feet dont slip off the pedals and you can really pedal hard and stay in control of the cranks.
