You’ll probably have to do a trailer setup or make a custom mount.

Thnx gar, I’m currently in the N.W. working on a sweet edit if I can keep from getting hurt. I have a couple more days of shots to get.It should be out in about a week or so.

Pretty good edit. I few things maybe. Try recording in 1080 / 60. You should get some better clarity. You have some good camera angles that seems to be solid. Probably the biggest thing for me was the comments you put in your video. I would put those at the beginning or end. They are hard to read and distracting during the video. At the very least put them in a static shot with nothing else going on. The last thing I can think of is throw in a couple of zoom in or out. Not sure what your using to edit but in Imovie the feature is called Ken burns. And you can make a static shot pan and zoom a bit. But if you try to zoom too much you will lose some clarity. BTW I am no expert at this. These are just opinions of a guy who watches a lot of edits and made a few. But your video is already 10 times better then a straight pov video. Also you’re the artist so it really doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks as long as you like it.

Looks like you live about an hour from denver (4 hrs during rush hour) there are a couple of small bike parks in the Denver area I would frequent if you want to improve your jumping. One of which is golden bike park in golden, co. This has a very good jump line that is progressive to work your skills up. The main line is all table tops so you can work your way up to the bigger jumps (about 20 feet or so). Also if there is a skatepark around you and have access to a bmx or 26 dj bike that is a great place to hone your bike handling skills that will translate to the trail. More or less you want to find a place you can ride the same obstacle over and over again even if it’s just one jump. You get familiar with that obstacle then you can start messing with you bike in the air until you are comfortable with your bike in the air. Then move on to something bigger. Also remember you have only been doing this for 2 years. All the good guys you see have a minimum 10 solid years of progression to get where they are at. Just keep riding and things will work them selves out.

[quote="LongHaulBilly":3kxrqqxw]I’ve been hangin in Golden, Co this week and their is a bunch of systems within a few miles of each other here. Like apex, chimney gultch, North and south table, white ranch and I think a few others. I doubt it is the most epic place but it pretty good but also very busy on the weekends. But for the truck drivers out there this place is epic because the truck stop is only a few miles from each of them also.

Is there any truck stop closer then 15 miles to Apex?[/quote:3kxrqqxw]

Yep, sure is. You got the TA denver west which is about 7 miles to apex park according to Google maps. I didn’t realize it was that close but that means you can do a pretty sweet loop from apex to chimney gultch or vice versa because they are both about 7 miles to either trail head. I’m gonna have to do that next time. It would probably be a 30+ mile ride. Or another thing I really haven’t looked into is the bus route to either trail head. Their buses are equipped with bike racks. So if you wanted to save a little energy for the trail that is probably an option. Are you also a driver?

in reply to: First Underground MTB Park Planned, Bound to Fail? #124918

I looked into the mega cavern. It is an old mine with 17 miles of corridor with a lot of cavern type areas along the side of it. It was hard to find any pics of any type of real terrain the floor of the cavern is almost completely smooth so I would say at least 90% of the terrain will have to be man made. My guess is they will try to make a giant underground rays mtb. Which isn’t a bad idea since the temperature will always be perfect for either the winter or super hot summer days. Will this park be a mecca? I highly doubt it. But there is a lot of money behind it and could be pretty cool if done correctly. There may be enough room to squeeze in a 100 miles of ray’s type of mtb park or at least a hybrid of rays. I would say it has some potential.

Congratulations on your new bike. Mountain Creek in NJ open this Saturday, could be fun to shake it there too.

Thanx stumpy, I usually try to avoid the northeast but I’ll check it out and maybe I’ll have to make an exception.

That’s the best pov video I’ve ever seen.

Hi, singletrackers! I came across this video and want to share it. Enjoy 😀

Good advice. But I wonder about a color by numbers approach making every video looking just about the same. Not to say I’m not going to use some of those ideas if not all at some point or another. But I do hope it gets people away from the straight pov edits.

Nice edit. It is a lot of effort to make such video happen. Music is a bit too energetic as for my taste. But hey, it’s impossible to everybody like same music 😀

Thanks I appreciate it. I wasn’t planning on using that song but I thought the sound effect matched so perfectly on the last crash scene. It just kept cracking me up so I went with it.

Very cool! Gotta love it here

Thanks man, I am jealous that I don’t live out there. I can’t believe how sweet the valmont bike park is and I believe it’s funded by the city.

Great job on the video! It is nice to see you used stationary and pov shots. The standard GoPro pov videos get soooo boring after awhile!

Thank for the positive feedback. I agree on the pov shots it always seems like a lot of great riding and scenery is missed. But it does take a lot more effort to set up all the shots and editing. But I seem to enjoy it.
Thanks again for the info on the sea otter classic. But unfortunately not able to make it maybe next year.

    "gar29" wrote

If you’re out west this weekend, the Sea Otter Classic is happening in Monterey, CA. SRAM is putting on a demo program.

Thanks for the reply, gonna try to make it. Gotta ride with a buddy of mine in Denver wed. But then I’ll look for a load out that way.

in reply to: Is the strava app accurate with a smart phone? #123610

Thanx for the reply. That makes sense. I haven’t been able to find a way for adjust the gps settings on my phone and I may not be able to. I think for now I’m going to record my rides from my bike and just use strava for fun. I may look into a better gps system because I would like to have my times to be as accurate as possible on strava.

in reply to: New to flats, I can’t jump. #117708

I’m not sure what your technique for jumping with clips is but if you’re like my old man he kinda hops with his arms and legs all at once. Well you cant get very high that way and it feels very awkward. What you want to do is practice good bunny hop technique which might easier with a bmx bike if you got one. What you do is you pull the front end up first to about as high as you want to go and then suck the back end up. This may seem weird on a mnt bike for 2 reasons 1 your seat is normally pretty high and 2 the front end will usually seem heavy and you can fix that by getting bars with a higher rise that will make the bike easier to pull up.
