I know, I couldn’t believe that about the frame too. But fatter rims will tell. I even think I can squeeze a 29X1.85-2 back there. A 29X2.4 Ardent on i29 rims was just a tad too big.
Frame clearance is starting to become a pet peeve for me. That very same same 650B+ tire that fit in my Trigger couldn’t fit my new 2016 Kona Honzo DL/AL, so I sold it. I was about to sell my Trigger. But now I’m reconsidering it. Thinking about getting a new fs 29er, and tire clearance is kind of my determining factors (because there are so many good bikes to chose from). When I hear about something like that Pine Mtn clearance, I get sad, because with helps from your review that steel beast was on my want-list (vs the jamis dragon slayer) .
Anyway, that Santa Cruz fitting some bigger tires moved up in my ranks for next bike, when I sell Trigger (if I do). Still need a hardtail replacement (might be the Loki or a Superfly!)..
That Rekon+ looks like it will destroy anything in its path. That Ikon+ looks just right! Now, I can’t wait for them to come out. Will be riding some Vees in the meantime.
Thanks for the info!

I was able to get my fit a Trailblazer 2.8 in the rear of my 650B frame on my 21mm rims. I’m hoping I still have same luck with some 30mm rims.

The 3.0 bridger cleared and if my wheel was 100% true it would, but ever couple knobs would brush.
I want to know which tires fit in between a trailblazer 2.8 and abridger 3.0.
