Is it alot less crowded on week days at Blankets? Everytime I have been, which was on a weekend each time, I was disheartened at the sight of a full parking lot. I usually try to steer clear of urban MTB parks and trails, but I LOVE THESE TRAILS! I live about 3 1/2 hours from Woodstock, so I want to plan a day where I know the trails wont be crowded.
WOW Nevermind, after further reading, I see that there are camping spots at the bottom of the hill. lol
Of the 3 bikes you just mentioned, I would go with the Giant Talon. I have heard many good things about it. Another one you should look into is the 6500 Trek. I have been riding mine for 4 years now and it continues to impress me with its durability and strength. It has a lot of quality components on it and I do believe that it can squeeze into that $1100 budget of yours.
After Pedalpalooza, a couple of friends and I are driving up to Ellijay, camping at Mulberry Gap and riding Pinhoti 1 & 2. I have been telling my buddy about it and he just purchased a new Rumblefish. If anyone wants to follow us, feel free.
I am going to try to make that. I love riding Blankets when I get the chance. Also looking forward to Pedalpalooza, and meeting some cool new friends……
