Having the opportunity to ride in few different areas, I would almost pick two the south west and the south east, Having just ridden around Kingman AZ when it was 104deg outside made for a short ride and the cactus could be a killer if you fell on it. I was out by Joplin MO a few weeks ago and when for a short ride the humidity was killer but with a lot of water in both places does help even if it’s as hot in the tube as outside.
In the winter of late fall the south west might be ok just watch out for the cactus.
Right now I am just outside Phoenix AZ and my thermo says 110deg I’m not going to ride in that even if I have the time, I will hide in comfort of my A/C.

    Welcome Jimmy

From the areas I have been in Atlanta I would say there are A Lot of shady people, 😮
My advice is stay far away from the trucks stops 😆
    Anyway enjoy the new ride.

    Welcome Gaber

I am new around here as well and so far I have found a lot of good info and help from the "Old Timers" 😆

in reply to: Some input would be nice #82438

I might have over looked them if I didn’t see 15mm QR in the add, The Fox forks use the 15mm.

How did the tire test go?

in reply to: Some input would be nice #82434

Yeah Bob’s is online at [url:2l39vfj4]http://bobs-bicycles.com/[/url:2l39vfj4]

I called Wheel World (where I got the frame) about the head set size just to make sure, And I have the Kona catalog with some specs but they leave a lot out.

Thanks a whole bunch on the hub sizing and rotors. 😃

The guys I work with think I’m nuts for spending this much on a bike that is not a Harley 😆
Last night I priced out a set of wheels with King hubs the rear was at 600 and fronts at 350 😮
With GoldenGoose’s input I was around 550 for the set using Hopes
I will be getting the head set and hubs in blue to go along with Silver and black I would like to get the BB in blue as well black rims and spokes.

Thanks guys for the help now if I can get this done before the snow flies

    GoldenGoose,
Thank you for the input the Flows were a bike shops suggestion I don’t do any DH yet heck I still have a long ways to when it comes to skills yet, But I felt a AM bike fits me.

Back to the Wheels a build with Stan’s Arch’s and Hopes is not that pricey, That just maybe the route I go. now to make sure I get the right size hub 100mm or 110mm for the front and 130mm or 135mm for the rear

One thing I forgot was what Rotor size 160mm front and rear or bigger?

A seat dropper is a good idea,

Hey Steve, I was going to trade you my old forks off my Trek but I guess you didn’t get my email… 😀 Bob’s Bicycles has a pretty good deal on those 2010’s Fox forks
I agree the Avid Elixir look to be the way to go, I rode a bike with Hayes and didn’t like them as well as the Avid’s

    Welcome to the forums Teufelhunde5953

I hope your health continues to get better 😀
I like that there is hope that I can still be riding for years to come I am 44 and pretty much out of shape.

I took a 20 miles ride today and though it was nice and easy for the most part I am so sore I hope I can get my butt off the couch so I can drive in the morning lol

in reply to: Cleaning and Care for your Camelbak? #82340

I have to say that I have yet to really clean my bladder even after a year of use,
Even right now I have what is left of the water I used when I was in Kingman… I do use Bottled water but the ice I add… Well it seems I should give it a good bath…. 😃

in reply to: Do you still carry a hand pump? #82052

I have a mini pump on my frame I did see that I have a Velcro strap in my pack where I could stash it.

I have seen the CO2’s in the LBS but I would rather use the pump for the same reasons others have stated.

in reply to: Does "Appearance" Matter To You Guys #80793

Back in the day I knew a guy that would build some bad fast hot rods but they were primer or old paint, miss matched color body parts.
Looks didn’t matter how fast did and he would clean up on a weekend night

When it comes to my cars I want the parts I put on to look good but work even better.

I just bought a Kona frame and as I am planning the parts I want to install, the look of them is always a thought it all has to flow and work as a team.

in reply to: Another rookie.. #82142

I will post when I can my last ride was in Kingman AZ it was a short ride being it was 104deg outside.. I gave a wide birth to the Cactus they have down there we do not have cactus that puncture an artery if you were to fall on to one.
I did find a trail head by the truck stop that I will hit up next time I stop, I am looking forward to going back up to Portland Ore this week maybe I can get a ride in along the Columbia river again this time go for more miles.

in reply to: No one likes Kona around here? #81987

I just bought a Dawg Deluxe, Just a frame right now but soon to be a roller.
I test road a few bikes I was going to go with a trance X0 but when I went to buy it they were sold out so I went this route.
I rode a Dawg at Pedal Pushers in Golden nice but I wanted some different components than what the Deluxe comes with.

I am sure it will beat my Trek 4300 HT
