This showed up in my inbox, and I thought it was pretty interesting:
I am a small builder of wood bicycles located in Denver, CO and I just had one of my wood bikes finish the Leadville 100, a 100 mile endurance mountain bike race here in Colorado starting at over 10,000 feet. We did it on a wood bike, which to our knowledge is a world’s first. This also may be the most beautiful mountain bike ever and it is made entirely from a tree hit by a car here in Denver.http://connorcycles.com/latest/2013-leadville-100/
http://connorcycles.com/latest/d-u-r-t- … ming-soon/Some specifics on the bike:
Ash wood/kevlar frame
Hollow Carbon Fiber FSA K-Force Light race components (Stem, seatpost, cranks, etc)
DT Swiss 110mm suspension fork
Magura 8 Carbon Disc Brakes
29er wheels with Ghisallo wood rims
Fourteen-speed Rholoff internal gearhub
Gates carbon belt drive
