      hey there!

when going to buy a used bike, what is it that you make a point to check out?

how do you check the quality of used shocks and forks?

      wacha think??

Have it checked out at LBS before buying. If they won’t let you check it then PASS. There are plenty used bikes out there. 😄 Later,

      agrre w/ fat billy.

also meet at the persons house, people the have "hot" bikes will avoid that. saw this tip in a bike mag.

Make sure no visible oil is coming out of the forks.

      kick the tires.

make sure the frame has no hairline cracks. bearings are smooth. pump the fork/rear shock and make sure the adjustments work and they don’t weep oil. check the teeth on the gears. someone who’s taken care of their bike won’t have a worn out drivetrain. mushy brakes may need a bleed.

Make sure it doesn’t still have a price tag attached to it. 😀

Ask him to meet you at a local bike shop (LBS). Have the mechanics check it out. Most will do it free of charge. Also, you can pull the mechanic off to the side and ash him if you’re getting ripped off. If the seller doesn’t want to meet you there, steer clear!
