i am looking to upgrade to a 35mm handlebar for my cannondale super v 800. What size stem do i need to get to fit with the stock super fatty shock?

Your best bet is to measure the diameter of the bar where it goes into the stem and buy a new one the same size. Stems come in different sizes for different sized bars so it is impossible to tell otherwise.
