Unable to Upshift from Small Chain-Ring to Middle Chain-Ring

I’m new to the MTB/Biking scene and bought a used Raleigh M80 to get started. The issue I’m having with upshifting only seems to happen with the Small Ring to Medium Ring, Medium to Big works perfectly fine. From the looks of it the chain tries to climb onto the front derailer but then falls back down to the Small Ring before it has a chance to get on the Middle.

I haven’t really ridden any MTB trails, mostly just getting myself acclimated to the bike so far.

What derailleur? What shifter? Just sounds like it is a tad out of adjustment. If it’s skipping the middle gears, try loosening the tension with the barrel adjuster 1/2 turn and try again.

When in doubt, there are 4 million+ youtube videos that can help you tune a derailleur.
