Is this an adequate bike to try some easy mountain bike trails? Should I upgrade the stock tires that come with the bike (Bontraeger LT 2 700 x 38 c)? I am interested in doing some mountain biking but I would like to do some riding on some novice trails to see how much I enjoy it before buying a bike dedicated to off road biking.
Note – I’m a bored, fit senior, I would like to have some fun and a workout on mostly scenic rides with some thrills, not too many spills.
Thanks

I should have mentioned, I already own this bike and I was wondering if a few upgrades would be a good idea while I evaluate my interest in more off road biking. Budget – $100 – $300, if I enjoy it, I would get a dedicated bike for off road.
A biking trip to Wood Canyon was a lot of fun, until I hit a couple of sandy patches! Kept me off a lot of interesting looking trails.

Putting on some wider and/or knobbier tires would make riding on singletrack more fun.

That is on my list, thanks.
