      Howdy all,
I am looking for a solution for travelling with my bike. I know there are cases but what’s good to carry a bike on a plane. Is it a pain to check it?

      thanks.

You’ll definitely need to disassemble your bike a bit, removing the front wheel and pedals at a minimum. You may also need to loosen the handlebars to turn them flat depending on how wide your fork is.

The other issue is the irregular baggage fee that some airlines might charge. I think the standard is about $75 each way, though it may be free on some airlines (anyone know which ones?). Due to the high cost and effort I usually rent a bike on any short trips I take. This generally costs $25-$50 a day but if you only ride a couple times it’s worth it.
