Okay, so it’s just another propaganda video, but there’s lots of cool riding along with some great footage of trails around Colorado Springs, including Palmer Park, Ute Valley Park, Pikes Peak, and Cheyenne Canyon. If you need some Colorado Springs stoke, you’ll find it here.

Wow, Ute Valley park? People were always surprised when I said we liked riding there but maybe that’s because the loop is so short. You definitely need to get up there Greg!

Some of the best goodies in Ute Valley are not on the main loop. Even though the place is kinda small, it helps to have a full day to explore the options–or a local who can concentrate you on the good stuff right from the get go. There’s even a few new paths that expand loop opportunities within the park.

Sweet, definitely putting this on my to-do list!
How long do you think the trails will stay rideable there, John?

This time of year, it’s a total crap shoot. We could get a foot of snow at any time or we could be sunny and 65 for weeks on end. We’re kind of in the latter pattern right now and it should last a bit. Even after we get our first snow or two, warm weather intervals will melt snow in between storms and the only thing one need worry about is ice patches in nooks and crannies on steep, north facing slopes.
Most years, I ride local trails consistently through sometime between Turkey Day and Commercial Gift Giving Day.
Drive time from Salida is right at two hours and even with recent fire and flood trail losses, we’ve got enough trails in the immediate area for a good week or two of solid rides without repeating yourself. It’s easy to make a day trip, so come on up any time. If you want to stay a while, we’ve got space in our home, from which a good half dozen rides can be done without ever getting in a car.

Oh, and a couple of weeks’ worth of riding in Colorado Springs alone? Man, it’s good to live in Colorado 😄
