I have been slowly upgrading the components on my bike. when i upgraded my rear deraillur to a sram XO i started having issues with skipping. i have adjusted the deralliur and even taken it to a shop but it still skips when i really torque it.(pedal hard). i read somewhere that i should get a new cassette. any ideas?

Do you run both 9-speed, or is the derailleur a 10-speed? How old are the cassette and the chain?

Replace the chain and cassette to cure skipping. 😄 Later,

You may not need to upgrade the cassette, it may just be worn out.
Like was already mentioned, you cannot mix 9 spd and and 10 spd parts. They are not compatible.

Yes, if you do end up replacing the cassette, be sure to replace the chain at the same time.

You usually change both at the same time, to avoid such problems
