I’m looking to replace my one-piece shifter/brake assemblies on my 2008 Specialized HRXC Sport.
I’ve done some reading and just want to make sure I have the information straight.
For brake levers it’s replace mechanical with mechanical (duh) and for the shifters, it’s replace Shimano with Shimano or SRAM with SRAM (with a few exceptions) and make sure the speeds are the same (again, with a few exceptions.)
If the above is correct and I have Shimano EF-50 shifters/brake levers, I should be able to switch to Shimano Deore brake levers and Shimano Alivio shifters. Right?
Thanks for the help 😃
I don’t want to drop 60-70 bones and find out I bought the wrong stuff. -

Yep, those components will work and you have the right idea. I think you’ll find that’s a nice step-up, especially down the road if you upgrade the derailleurs.
